Hi everyone,
I was on 10mg citalopram for 10years.
Ten months ago I reduced to 7.5 and 8 months ago reduced to 5mg.
I’m still getting withdrawal symptoms, all the usual stuff, I get windows too but more waves.
I thought I would have stabilised by now but I’m patiently waiting for that day to come.
My question is, do I stay on 5mg, reduce further, increase, stop all together or try something else.
My life as I know it is on hold, I feel trapped, I push myself hard though, I know some of you feel the same way.
I don 't know whether I am ever going to stabilise, maybe these meds are no longer for me.
I’d appreciate any responses.
The only anxiety I have is down to withdrawal symptoms.
Thanks
in the same boat as you know lovely but for me personally going up is not an option, and i think i will only feel properly stable when im off, yes i have good days here and there or better but not many, sorry to hear youre still suffering x
Hi
I’m on Celexa 5 MG for 9 weeks now
and yes it balance out with time
going to stay on that amount Celexa 5 MG and not going to change or mess with it
wait a whole and see what it will do for u as u maybe already know the meds take time
weeks like 3 month each does up or down I learned on the blogs
hope I could help u
Thanks both for replying. I’ve been on this dose for eight months now though, I thought I would have stabilsed by now. All my symptoms are typical withdrawal ones so I’m trying to remain focussed. I cut my pill in half and maybe there is some inaccuracy there and my brand was changed a few months ago, maybe contributing too. I spoke to my pharmacist about my preferred brand, he just said if they have it they will swap it for me the next time I collect.
Are you making any progress babsyboo? I know the struggles you have had Toria, hope you are making good progress.![]()
Hi.. Am also withdrawn off Sertraline for 3months..what are your symptoms.. I suffer hugely from sinus.. Headaches.. Reflux and blocked ears. Horrible but am determined not to go back to medication.. Val
Hi Valerie
All of the above plus dizziness, flu like symptoms - aches and pains all over particularly neck and shoulders, brain zaps, insomnia, palpitations. I developed tinnitus at some point too since being on the med and this is with me 24/7 but more noticeable at night. The overwhelming tiredness I was getting has passed now thank goodness.![]()
..noise and light sensitivity, nausea, stomach aches, constipation, feeling hot and cold in bed, burning sensations, restlessness, restless legs, itching, muscle twitching, itchy eyes, dry mouth..
hey lovely in a terrible wave right now 10 days now but trooping on x
You have my sympathy. I cannot believe how this is happening, I used to be full of life, outgoing, loved entertaining, socialising - I make an effort, look after my appearance, house spotless, meals cooked, chores done, I’m a stepford wife personified. ![]()
its soul destroying isnt it, i cant stop crying today ![]()
I know, it’s awful.
For anyone reading, I was on citalopram 10mg for 10 years and I was great on it, no symptoms. I am in no way criticising this med because without it I would not have functioned.
Withdrawal is my choice and everybody’s experiences are different. I was asked what these experiences were and I have listed them, I do not believe in sugar coating them. I know some people have come off with no problems at all.![]()
Hi Sonia
In the 10yrs you have been on 10mg have you been fine? If so, is there a reason you want to come off them?
Maybe your body still needs the 10mg, if they are helping you what makes you want to stop?
x
you took those words out of my mouth.just curious
Hi Aimee
Yes, was fine on them for 10 years. Over recent years, repeated gum infections, the need to take antibiotics and pain killers - don’t mix well with citalopram.
Maybe my body does need 10 mg, thank you, that was the whole point of my post to hear opinions and advise from others. ![]()
if you research citalopram causes tooth and gum problems x
please be cautious if you reinstate, read surviving antidepressants, i tried a slight updose but left it too long and it took me a year to get a bit stable x
Thanks Toria and a those who replied,
I’ll stick with current dose and I’ll probably see what doctor suggests next week.
My doctor knows I’ve reduced my dose but hasn’t offered any advice.![]()
I’ve seen the site you mentioned, thanks.
Hi
thanks for asking
yes starting to feel somewhat better
I can feel the Celexa 5 MG balanceing out
it is still not were it needs to be but getting their
still have side effects in the mornings the strongest
Like nausea and headache and sinus pain , nausea is the strongest still
And still have light anxiety coming of and on but like I sad getting better slowly
how about u
thats because they know very little to nothing about withdrawal! my doctors are leaving me to taper as i want as they admitted i know more about it than them ![]()
That all sounds really promising Babsyboo, I’m so pleased for you. The symptoms will pass, you’re doing really well.![]()
