Would you say this is herpes - image attached at bottom

Long story short:

  • HSV1 antibody positive but had coldsores all my life

  • 2015 had a blister type symptom on foreskin approx 8 months after last had sex

  • Since then occasional small, singular scabs developing in same place I first had blister.

  • Also have very frequent burning, tingly feeling in foreskin

  • Negative tests for all other STIs

  • Currently on antivirals

All this sounds like herpes but PCR negative after scabs swabbed, IGM negative one month after last scabs, and the scabs I get just do not look like herpes nor do they blister over.

I have spent the last six years believing I have herpes. It is causing significant distress and costing relationships. Please help - does this look like herpes and if not, what could it be?

Hi, it doesn’t look like herpes. Is it the same spot you are referring to?

If, it’s possible to it’s a very mild breakout. Recurrence HSV1 is really low and so same goes for shedding.

You are obviously really careful and thoughful of protecting your partner. The best would be to get a swab when it appears so you’ll know for sure.
