I am now 10 days post op. The hip doesn't feel too bad and I can walk around the house. But the wound is still seeping in one place and is extreme
ly sore. The GPHas given me antibiotics to ward off a infection , but it is worrying. I still take all the painkillers.
As long as your surgeon is treating it, I would think you'd have some relief soon. At 10 days, you want to continue your pain meds! I'm nearly 4 weeks now and still taking my pain meds regularly. There's no sense suffering needless. Have your surgeon actually seen your wound? What do they suggest, other than the antibiotics?
Ohhh .. that must be scary! But several people have posted about this happening but turned out well once the anbiotic worked their magic.

Im 4 weeks out and I also had to go on abt bc I had a 1 inch open area on my surgical site .the incision is still tender and the area been closed for 3 days now .I have to go for blood work and xray to make sure I dont have or get osteomyelitis .. I just finished the abt yesturday ....take all of ur abt even when the seeping stops .keep the area dry and clean ..I kept mine open to air to help it close...good luck to you on ur healing

hi margaret , good thing that it is being treated - is it also swollen en do you have a fever? do you have staples or stitches? when is your appointment to have them removed? are you allowed to take a shower? if so, make sure to keep it dry and clean okay ? let us know how you are getting on and keep taking your pain medication. big warm hugrenee
Hi Margaret , after being dry all week my wound poured fluis at the end of week one and continued to do so till end if week 4 . I didnt have antibiotics as both a and e and my surgeon said fluid was clear so not infected . Can just build up in a cavity below the wound . Needless to say i was very very ancxiou re infection , they did blood tests regyularly to check for infection and all were negative and my lovely consultant saw me every two weeks . A lot of GP,s will give you antibiotics just in c, i would have taken them happily as was so scared but they werent needed and my wound stopped leaking and settled diwn - beautifully healed now at 13 weeks and has been since end of week 5 . If its a local infection them the abs wil work. Try not to worry hon , easier said than done i know xxxx

I had this happen to me 4th day my dressing leaked all over, settled then started up again after about 20 days, had clips removed day18, but I kept that bit of my wound dressed and it settled in a couple of days. It was a clearish liquid that leaked out and I didn't need antibiotics.
