I had metal plate inserted in wrist after accident last year..today I was walkin my dog and he strongly n quickly pulled on leash and hurt my bad wrist..im now in pain n hav restricted movement I am also experiencing numbness and cold tinglin down in my and into my fingers. can u advise
Hi Elaine
Sorry but the only thing I can say is get yourself to the GP and he will probably refer you to hospital for an X Ray...I would have it checked out
5 years ago I had an accident.....a car reversed, knocked me down, reversed over my ankle and then drove over it
Like you I have got a plate, pins and screws in it.
The op was horrible and I was violently sick so they gave me the choice of leaving it in or taking it out later when it was healed
My attitude was........if its not bothering me I wont bother it Just leave it. 5 years on I have OA in that ankle ...but thats fairly normal.....plate or not.....its just starting to give me some pain so when I see the consultant for an X Ray {back and hips} he's going to X Ray that as well....but thats not untril about 5 months time.
I think for your own peace of mind have it checked out

hiya eileen, thanks for the advice and im sorry to hear what uv been through. i'm actually scared to go to hospital after what happened during last operation. i'm hopin with some rest today it might be better tomorrow if not then i will go n get it seen to x
Hi Elaine
You need to see your gp in the least, I would actually re come d going along to a&e. The restricted movement and pain Is to be expected. I experience the same now from this time of injury, but the pins and needles, tingling, coldness means in some way your nerve endings have been aggravated or possibly worse case damaged. If it gets worse you could could seriously compromise your hand and usage. All of this I have been told myself before( my story is earlier in this forum, but I was hit by a drunk driver and smashed both my ulna and radius). A quick trip to a&e will confirm any of this and put your mind at rest. Hope it goes well.
Kind regards
Elaine.
Elaine - you should go to your Doctor or A & E for a check up. I'm not an expert but I am a nurse with various experiences including orthopaedics. Your symptoms need investigating and the sooner the better. Sometimes it's difficult to decide how serious a symptom is and for fear of what the results might show we may try and convince ourselves that we don't need treatment. You need to find out.
I am suffering from a 6 week old very simple wrist fracture. It appears that I may now have a complication called "algodystrophy". I intend to keep a diary of my progress and put it on this site in the hope that my story may benefit someone with similar symptoms. I hope it all goes OK for you............
Hi elane so sorry UR in pain. Especially after surgery u would expect it to repair the problem.
I can't add any more help than what the others have advised. I really think UR best bet is to see a neurologist. UR description sounds like nerve damage and the specialist is goin to help direct UR in the best direction to repair the issues ein UR wrist.

hi everyone, i went to hospital after reading all your advice. I was xrayed in hospital and it came back okay. Iv to wear wrist splint during the day and especially out walking dog for a while. If pain persists iv to go back to my own GP and get referred to neurology. Thanks again everyone much appreciated xx
Hi Elaine
Glad you went to the hospital....I'm sure your mind is more at rest now.
The splints will help and you know you can go back to your GP if necessary
Well done you
