Wrist replacement - Post operative recovery

I had a  total wrist replacement, 10 days ago. Has anyone else been through this, and, willing to share their experience?

How long was your recovery and have there be any limitations in movement since? 

I get my cast off next week and start pe been physio then. I've been told I can resume driving sometime after that. Any ideas on how long thgat was for you?

I have never heard of anyone having a wrist replacement. What exactly does that entail? I mean surely they did not replace your entire wrist. Obviously I've never had any kind of surgery on my wrist but I was curious as to what kind of surgery you had. I'll be watching the responses as well to see what people suggest to you. I do have one recommendation . If you are taking any kind of pain medicine then I strongly suggest that you also take something that will keep you regular in the BM department. Because pain pills will constipate you. And the last thing you want is to be constipated and have had surgery on your wrist.

Hi amkoffee, thanks for your message, basically they take out all the affected bones in the wrist and insert a prosthesis into the radial bone,this has a cup attached, in which a ball joint lies, allowing some rotation. This is connected to the carpals.  see link below which explains it a bit more comprehensively.

As for the other, I haven't any major issues, but will heed your advice

I haven't had my wrist done but I have had two finger joints replaced. When the cast came off after 2 weeks i started basic physio. I found that the physio is the key to getting movement back and I had a window up to about 6-8 weeks, after that my physio explained that I wouldn't get much more. 

It was 3-4 weeks before I could drive. I had to wear a hand splint for many weeks. After 3-4 months I was allowed to play golf again. 

I was told I wouldn't get full movement in my fingers and I am okay with that because I am pain free.

ich hatte vor 4 Wochen eine OP mit totalem Gelenkersatz mit einer “Motec” Prothese, die in Mittelfinger und Elle verscharubt wurde und in der Mitte ein Kugelgelenk enthält.

Ich hätte gern Vergleichsinfos, wie Ihre Genesung, Beweglichkeit, Physiotherapie seit Ihrer OP vorangeschritten ist, da ich zur zeit noch so gut wie keine Beweglichkeitsfortschritte bemerke.

Ich würde mich sehr freuen, wenn Sie dies lesen und dann einige Infos geben könnten.
