After being diagnosed with vestibular neuritis im starting to doubt the diagnosis.
i was making steady progress but have taken a massive step back this week feeling dizzy as hell when im moving about im startin to feel im on the verge of another attack of BPPV or vertigo.
surely you cant go backwards with this as i feel like ive gone back 3 months
considering having the epley performed again as i cant take much more of this hell, i still feel i have something different to what they said its just a gut feeling i have
Anybody else made progress then gone backwards ?
Hi Steve93849 I too have had this issue and have just bounced back today to feeling better. When I was first diagnosed and started my VRT I felt great some days and off on other days and then for the last 3 weeks I have felt really bad, worse then ever and then today I woke up feeling great again. My dizzy specialist said to me that this kind of process is normal as its your body trying to compensate which means it is working. She told me I will feel great some days and other days will be bad and this will keep happening until one day I will feel 100 percent everyday.
I have the dizziness for weeks now; they have done tests after finally put me on ativan. Been working but still dizzy! Try that and see what happens.im sick of being dizzy
If you are doing VRT keep at it and try not to take medication as it will slow down the compensation process. VRT sometimes doesn't work until after 3 months. It varies from people to people
Thanks cassie; but wen I dont take the meds the dizziness is worse so your sayimg it will eventually go away! Stopped doing the exercise too.
I was the same with medication, it would make me feel better but in the long run it won't help as the brain won't be able to compensate properly because medication is only a short term fix where as the VRT is a long term fix. VRT will make you terrible when you first start and actually makes the symptoms worse but once you get stuck into it more and more and you keep on it, it ends up getting better. Vestibular neuritis is actually an inflammation and damage to the vestibular nerve so it takes the exercises to compensate the brain and balance system where as the medication just helps the dizziness and doesn't fix the real problem on the inside.
hi Cassie hope thats the same for me its funny i was due my 1st VRT session yesterday but had to cancel as i had a fueneral to attend too
but you have given me hope at least!!
Are VRT sessions helping you ?
Not on no meds but drive for a living was off 4 months untill i went back aboout 2 months ago been ok to drive untill the last few days wherer ive felt spaced out and light headed
My VRT has shown a lot of progress as well as feeling like it's not working but I will persist because it's on and off and my doctor has said this will happen and it's very common and that actually means I'm getting better so I just keep going and today I feel great again so hopefully it lasts for a while.
I get the spaced out and get light headed too but that's just a part of the vestibular neuritis.
So will this dizziness go away eventually or do I need to see an ent doctor.
Hi have been dizzy for 6 yrs and de compensation is all part of it I was 90% dizzy free for 2 years but not due to so much going on in my life I am back dizzy 24/7 and my bbpv is back to
It's heart breaking for me to go back this far but there is no choice but to carry on .
Epleys will make u feel awful I had a 7 hr drive yesterday to have one and check out what's what and today I feel like I'm on a boat I feel sick feel just awful.
So please if u can keep moving let your brain keep taking the signals and keep fighting
Just hope this feeling goes away soon cause I had it for 4weeks now and had test except a scan but they don't think I need one.hooe ro feel better soon!
And I have done the exercises that they have but I stopped cause the room stopped spinning.just dizzy wen I walk or stand but not bad that's why I thought the meds were working
You will need to see someone do get a proper diagnosis and then do some VRT rehabilitation they will give you specific exercises to get rid of the dizziness
Well this is good to kno; just hope it goes away eventually
The exercises are the only things that help me but it may be different for other people
Ok thanks alot but I till I go what's the best thing to do keep the dizziness down
I have had this issue for a year now and I have seen improvement so you should get better it just takes a lot of time.
If you think it's something else, it may be helpful to keep a journal of your symptoms and conditions. I worked with someone who has Meuniere's and when the pollen was peaking, I'd get worse from fluid/allergies but relief when it rained (I have BPPV). However he was fine until the rain, which set off his symptoms and they were worse than mine.
As others have said, epley and therapies do help, but you have to stick out the worst of it to get there. I found relief from a few months of accupuncture. When I slid back again, I was pregnant and didn't want accupuncture at that time (I moved away from the woman who did mine and was too afraid to try someone new). If I have another slide, I'd find another trained professional in accupuncture, but that's just my experience.
See if you can connect the dots for your own good and bad days/weeks along with your doctor...or a new doctor. I wish you well!
