Wrong leg is numb

HI all

I had my first three on left leg in march 2017 and have just had my right one replaced (6 days ago). I had a general anaesthetic with femoral nerve block for pain relief during the op as I can't have a spinal one due to spinal damage. Unfortunately the block didn't take on the right side this time so have had very high pain levels.

The problem I have is that the left thigh IS completely numb even though there was only a right femoral nerve block attempted . I am getting erratic and wide spread electrocution type zapping in left thigh when I move funny and otherwise it's just numbness. Right leg has no numbness and never has

Has anyone suffered with this or have any idea what's happening?

Thanks

Ffion

Not three... THR!

Hi. No I haven’t but sounds like a nerve may be involved. Have you talked to ur doctor about it?

I hope you get relief soon.

Hi Ffion,

I had a spinal which only worked on unoperated leg. So glad I was also having a GA. However I got the nerve pain you described, it shot across my pelvic area. Did settle down though. I also had horrendous pain because of this post op. X

Hi. I can relate to the thing you call electrocution type zapping. I have been calling it " spasom ". It hurts like hell and can happen at any time and when it does it seems to shoot from my groin to my knee.. hope you recover

Hi ffion. , a take it you are 50 with 1967,

I had both hips replaced 18 days ago, I'm 48 not had any bother with hips but my left foot is still numb with as you say like someone now and again hits it with an electric taser and it's so painful

The surgeon gave me 2 mri scans on hip and spine said I'd stretched a nerve and the taser electrical feeling and numbness should get back to normal  fairly soon

Still getting me down though, just swapped 1 pain for another , waking up every morning hoping it's away but will now just bide my time and hope for the best

See surgeon again in 6 weeks
