I am afraid that Xanax is going to cause me to have dementia. Now I can’t calm myself. Anyone else take Xanax?

Never anticipate something that will not happen, you suffer anxiety and your condition will give your brain plenty of problems to consider that will not happen. All part of your condition

I do not know your age, if young to middle age try not to consider that pathway. Consider the day and move on. Tomorrow will look after itself.

I have a congenital short term memory disorder and I found out about that last year. I now live with it and move on. They consider I have had this since being a child. I am now 67 years old. Have got to much on to worry I keep busy when I feel ok

Maybe I am just forgetful, because I have anxiety.  There are days when too many things are going through my head.

I read about it online.  The internet is not always kind to those with anxiety. I tend to read into things too much.

If worried, talk to your GP. Sometimes when we research our medications and condition we can pick up on rare negative problems. I do not know your age and how long yo have been on the drug, if you look inside the box the drug came in will be a sheet of paper explaining contraindications and side effects. However I would suggest a chat with your GP may help you. Let me know how you get on

I read more than one article, and did not bookmark them.  There are many posts on this site that can cause fear to others. I do not think it is fair for you to lash out at me.  Like I said there was not a specific article that caused me to panic. 

I am not sure why you are responding to me in such a rude manner. I am only human.

Of course I receive my medication from a licensed professional.

Your smarty reply only tells us ...you have no DEMENTIA issues...but lack sensitivity to those that are benefiting from Xanax and rely on such medication to survive..Your post implied a fear of DEMENTIA to yourself if you took it...Perhaps your comment should have been asked to the professional who prescribed it to you in good faith..

Not lashing at you...but you sound defensive...just making a point that perhaps your "fear" is not well based on scientific research...Unless you can now cite...any...and I mean any article to back up such fear you now seem.to have...

Maybe its not but neither are many other peoples fears on here.

I do use it to survive.  I am an adult who has many issues.  You do not know me or my story.

I posted here for help with anxiety related to a medication. You have now made me very upset and I hope you feel damn good about yourself.
