Yag laser did not remove cloudy vision after IOL implants

As I said Sue, I'll wait to see this top guy in Dublin and see then. I have contacted a solicitor who is looking into this for me as I am disgusted with OE, they ran for the hills, they didn't want to know only told me to go back to my Eye Specialist.

No doubt I'll keep you posted, communication is the key and thanks again for your support.

Really hoping that specialist has a solution for you.

Makes one think the surgeon should be aware of the lensrs that are affected and should check to see which lens you have before proceeding with a YAG.

I will pray for a positive outcome to this.

With YAG such a common procedure you’d hope someone will come up with a lens that can be used whether or not a YAG has been done.

Best wishes to you - keep us all updated as I am sure this information will be invaluable to others.

The Eye Hospital I attended did miss that the cloudiness was due to the IOL. Hence the YAG Laser Capsulotomy. Looking for a solicitor who is undertaking a class action.

I have the Oculentis Mplus mf30 IOLs. I first noticed cloudiness in my left eye,  and is was about 6 months later that I noticed that the right eye was also becoming effected.

Obviously a problem with these lenses as I have the same. Are you in the UK? If you are I saw a firm advertising that it was interested in taking on these situations

I am in the UK and looking for a solicitors who have a class action in hand

you might find this helpful, let me know if you get the link

In received your link to the solicitor and I am in touch with them. Thank you.

they treated me like an assembly line.

doctor did NOT discuss option of a choice of lens.

i would have paid more for a choice.

they did not tell me type of lens.

i truly will pray for God to guide you.

hi, hope you are well? did you get the lenses explanted? if so are you happy with outcome?

dear dealmaker i had cataract surgery on both eyes and 2 different lens for each eye THE LEFT WAS for near NOV 8, 2018, and the right was for distance NOV 26,2018
ITS the left eye which is an acylic lens which was immediately the problem the day after the surgery which was a misty cloudy which sounded like your milky desciption HOWEVER !unlike yourS mie was like that from the beginning after the surgery my vision was better but the annoyong wet mist was alwas blocking my vision
AFTER a half a year of seeing two more doctors they felt it was posterior opacification and i had my dr treat the left eye with yag laser telling her to make a small hole so the membrane would stay somewhat more intact in case i needed a IOL REPLACEMENT - YAG DONE on MAY 24,2019TO MY dismay it didnt work and the cloudiness remained and is a bit worse

I ASKED WHAT OPTIONS I HAVE on JUNE 7,2019

1) WEAR the presciption distance glasses that she presribed which did help but i really did not want to wear glasses esp for distance

2) GET LASIK on the near lens making it a distance lens which she felt would help rid some of the mistiness but its an out of pocket expense MY Husband said not to do lasik because eventually as one gets older the vision changes and lasik ispermanent

3) DR could put in tear duct plugs which helps with dry eys which I have and dry eyes can cause some of the symptoms i have

4) SHE will not recommend IOL REPLACEMENT citing riskiness of a difficult removal of my present lens which is a 4sided hydophilic acylic lens and more difficult to remove (i dont know why)

WHAT SOLUTION DID YOU COME UP WITH? HOPE IHEAR FROM YOUSOICAN GETSOMEADVICE

THANK YOU

LILLIAN

Hi Lillian, sorry to read about your story. What is the brand name of the lens in the left eye?

Unfortunately my situation has not improved. Apparently my lens - the Lentis mf30 is faulty and like what you were told, its a risky operation to replace it. Mine began to get cloudy in September 2017, it has slowly worsened. It is foggy/ milky/cloudy and I cannot make out objects or people in the distance clearly. For example, at work my Desk is opposite another Desk and I find it difficult to make out work colleagues at that Desk. I can see the outline of the person but cannot see who it is.

It is my long distance eye so really uncomfortable driving to the point that i find myself closing it a lot. I will only risk replacing it if the vision is nearly gone.

I feel your stress and fear because thats the way I am when I dwell on it. I imagine all sorts of tragic dilemmas - the other eye going the same way, not bring able to see at all.

Hope Ive been of some help to you and please ask any questions you may have.

i was not even told of a lens choice, doctor just put his choice in. wish I had never had it done. Have not found an opthalmologist I trust. Trusting a doctor is what got me to this srage.

stage, sorry for typo.

My left eye develop cloudiness after about 6 years. I was told it was posterior capsule opacification. And would require a capsulotomy using YAG laser. This was done but the cloudiness did not improve. I had the IOL replaced. The first surgeon I went to tried but failed to remove the IOL. I found another surgeon in the UK, experienced in this problem. He operated. The operation was lengthy and complex because of the capsulotomy. Now the vision in my left eye is good.

hello, we spoke before.....will you please send me the details of the surgeon who successfully replaced your iol? I am struggling to find someone here to replace mine, i am so thrilled to hear that things have improved for you.

Lengthy being how long?

I am also thrilled to hear of a success as it is maddening.

thank God for this Forum.
