Hope you all doing well. Most of you might have seen my posts last year regarding having only one good eye and which I had to go through cataract on it in Dec 2018. I went with -1.5 distance for it and I was really happy with the outcome. How ever vision got blurray in last 2 months and visited doctors and they suggested to go through YAG for removing it. I m planning to do it as its kind of disturbing now.. can you please advise if any risks going through YAG? As per my research and discussions with doctors this looks like a simple procedure and need not to be worry.. But just wanted to get your thoughts as I have only vision in that eye :(.. Please advise I m worried abut folaters also
hi vjkrish and read your history again. u have been high myope and have had the eye laser treated for preventing retinal detachment. so i suggest u get an opinion from retina specialist as well since yag has a small risk of rd for males below 50. good luck.
Yes, I had the YAG in both eyes. No problrms at all after surgery. I saw the posterior capsule “float away” as a few large floaters in the first eye. Second eye, did YAG a month later, there were smaller and more floaters, but just about gone now, 10 days later.
As I wrote on a different thread, thePCO/( YAG) symptoms were like a thin film over the eye. Not as noticeable as the original cataract blur. More like a floater that is more or less stationary in the field of vision. As if you had a piece of plastic wrap over a bowl in the fridge and it eventually formed a thin film of condensed water on the plastic. You can see thru it, but you know it’s not quite clear. Like fog, but not terribly dense.
In the YAG procedure, the surgeon aims four short laser bursts forming the 4 corners of a cross, which have the effect of “bursting the plastic wrap”, i.e., the remaining central area of the capsule behind the IOL which has grown the cells which formed the PCO. My surgeon said they’ve been doing the YAG for 35 years now, so normally no worries for the patient. Quite amazing!
Thank you all for the responses. i went to the rentina specialist today and he gave e clearance to go ahead with YAG he said everything looks perfect and I am good to go,.. FIngers crossed scheduled my YAG on Oct 2nd.. Praying for the best
