Years later the pain returns! 😳

6 years after THR, I’m experiencing pain at the top of my thigh while standing & walking. Even just standing long enough to do dishes is excruciating.  Any ideas?

Get thee to the surgeon asap. Could be so many things, but infection comes to mind. Good luck!

That’s really awful.  I just had right hip done in January; having left done mid-July.  I sure hope mine lasts longer.  I wasn’t planning on retiring six years from now!  Were you able to exercise regularly in that period?  I heard swimming is the best exercise for hip replacement patients.  Just wish I had my own swimming pool!  Good luck and I’m sorry to hear your news.  I remember before my last THR, it was too painful to fill my dishwasher.   So, if anyone tells you to get a dishwasher, that probably won’t help!  Keep your chin up and your sense of humor in tact!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having these issues because to me it sounds rather as if the stem has become loose which would mean a revision.

Please see your surgeon as soon as possible.

Best wishes Richard

It could just be muscle or nerve issues? Don't panic get an appointment for your surgeon for xrays and maybe he will say all is fine and refer you to physio. Try doing the original exercises and see how you feel. I have similar pain but I'm 5 months post op and have extremely weak muscles. Good luck let us know x

Interesting, what does your doc say?
