Yes, here we go again : weight issues

Hello everyone. I am female 38 y o. I use Mirtazapine 15 mg  with Estacilopram exactly 1 month . I use it before  I go to bed . I found out that with moderate-normal eating and sport I still gain some weight. And it is not what I want. I started to use Mirtazapine because of anxiety and  somatoform disorder ( conversion disorder). While my neurological symptoms are still there I getting better and found some peace in my head that I am not going to die and probably my symptoms are psychical.

I want to stop with Mirtazapine. Going to call my doctor Monday but still would like to hear some stories how you stopped and what was your experience.  Thanks in advance.

Hi I posted this on the forum this morning - hope it helps !

thank you!

I eat very moderate, no snacks, no sweets , I run and exercise and still gain bit by bit. I don't want it at all, I m planning to quit Mirtazapine. A lot of weight does not make me happy at all. How you came off it? Thank you for your reply.

This drug is used for people with food issues as well as for anxiety and depression.  It has been used for patients that need to put on weight and/or anorexic.  It slows down the metabolism and gives patients an appetite.  I stopped it after taking it for 5 months.  I had put on nearly 10 kilos in that time.  I am a runner and very careful with my diet.  I go hill walking.  I have never been over weight in my life.  My stomach was bloated much of the time and I went up a dress size.   Enough.  I just stopped it one day in May last year.  The weight dropped off but there were awful side effects that followed.  If you have only taken mirtazapine for one month, you may be lucky and have little or no withdrawal side effects.

Best wishes

I don't use it already 2 days. So far so good. We shall see. Thank you for your reply!

thank you Christine. Hopefully I ll not experience awful side effects.
