I have got by lately with no actual episodes only the odd wobble. Today I was baking in a hot kitchen and went through to the sitting room, sat on the sofa & looked at face book on my phone when the room started to spin, I held on the the edge of the sofa with my eyes shut until it stopped spinning . On opening my eyes the spinning had gone but I was very hot, glancing in the mirror I had huge beads of sweat literally dripping of me. I went and lay down on my side on the bed feeling really hot with my heart thudding & then shivering cold. I pulled the quilt over myself & slept for nearly two hours.
My mistake as I had forgotten to switch the tower fan on when I came in from walking the dogs .
Does looking down for a long period of time have anything to do with it? My episodes have come in similar situation. I wonder if the neck puts pressure on an artery it if the crystals in the ear move if in that down position too long? I'm not a doctor and just try and narrow down what brings this on
The point you make I often think its in my case. My neck is often tight and when it is quite bad I get menieres symptoms. This is why I rely on exercises, yoga, swimming etc. The other trigger I find is when I am washing up and there is a lot of steam. I dont get it in the bath or shower just when I am standing over the sink
I also go for long periods without any vertigo, but then it comes on for no apparent reason. I do find that scrolling on the computer, especially when on Facebook or when scrolling looking for something, makes my head funny. The eyes and inner ear work together to orient you in space, so I think a Meniere's person has mixed signals from the inner ear and it shows up in what we see. The sweating and chills and fatigue are classic Meniere's vertigo symptoms. Awful to deal with...
Hi Lizzie,
Your note reminded me that over the year, I've had several attacks that happened after getting overheated. If fact, at one point, I hadn't had an episode for weeks, and then wham! I got a big one. And, it was the result of being overheated, and I suspect, dehydrated. I had been visiting an outdoor art fair, and walking quite far in the very hot sun. I thought I'd been drinking enough water, but apparently not. Now, my approach is "not too much of anything." I don't get too hot, too cold, too hungry, too tired..Etc...etc... I try to live on a more even keel, and it seems to help. This is one crazy condition to deal with, and I think we all get triggered by different things. There was a time early on, when just wiping the counter off would trigger terrible dizziness and nausea, and I'd have to lie down. Something about watching my hand doing that circular motion! Crazy!
It can be difficult to accept the unpredictability of it all. I wish you all the ver best!!!
J-
It seems looking down is one of the triggers....thanks for your response.....
Yes the days off having my laptop balanced on the end of the couch and multi tasking are over.
