The FDA in the US has just approved this treatment which is for severe emphysema. It is approved in a number of other countries including Britain. Has anyone out there heard of it or had the treatment. I live in Canada but I am going to begin exploring my chances of getting this treatment.
I live in the USA....SC. I recently checked into the valves at MUSC in Charleston, SC. I found out due to this treatment being so over used and without any real advantage for the patients the FDA only allows a very few hospitals in the USA to perform this procedure anymore. The closest one to me is Duke. The doctors in Charleston don't have alot of faith in this treatment. Right now I have been put on NUCALA....a once a month shot and I have had a bit of improvement but not alot.
I have not heard of this but will certainly be doing some research. My hubby just turned 50 and has very severe emphysema. 🙏
What country do you live in?
I think you might be confusing this with another treatment. This was just approved in the US on June 28th.. The FDA actually helped Pulmanx get its clearance. Check everything out on the net. It is done in many countries.
USA....in the state of South Carolina.
Go on the pulmanx site and write in the comment section that you would like to be notified when they set up health care specialist for this in your area. You will be one of the first to be advised.
Thank you...I will do that!
I went to this site and that is the one my doctor says the FDA only lets a few hospitals in the USA place these in patients. The reasons are because so few are helped by them and so many caused death to the patients. I know you can only have disease in the upper lobes for the doctors here to consider them and even then very few are done. Be sure to check out the pages where these valves have been evaluated and read the pros and cons too!
