Zoloft 50 mg

Hi... I just started on 25 mg of Zoloft for one week & now I'm on 50 mg for another week for anxiety/panic. I have yet to feel the difference? Does it take this long to take affect? I really want this to work. I almost feel like I'm worse! It's been 14 days and really not much of a difference. Should I wait longer?

Hi, HopefulDee,

I'm sorry you are having a difficult time. As you may have surmised, you are not alone. True, the side effects can be awful, but they generally go away. it could take 4 to 6 weeks to get substantial benefits from the Zoloft, though some people feel better sooner. You may email me privately any time if that helps..

Best to you,

Jeffrey,

It's so frustrating! ....I know there's no magic pill, but friends of mine feel so great on it and I honestly have that pit in my stomach still and verge of anxiety. Went to gym tonight and feel good, but still just not myself. I guess I need to give the 50mg another 2 weeks?....I was wondering if maybe the dose is too low?....but only been 7 days on 50....

Thank you for respondingsmile

Hello Dee, I can agree with Jeffrey,.if you are 14 days in you should start to notice a difference in about a week.. sertralne is a rollercoaster at the beginning with the side effects but they do start to diminish you just have to hang in there. Maintain the same dosage at the same time every day probably about tea time with food and you will begin to notice a difference soon enough. I think overall you can get back to normal between 4-8 weeks from starting. I know it seems like forever when you are in that situation but you are nearly there so don't give up. Just count every day asa step nearer to feeling better

Keep yourself busy too, this.helps to take your mind off things. You can do it!

You're welcome, HopefulDee,

Actually, these drugs are very powerful. I began on 25 mg. I think your doctor is doing it the right way. I recently increased my dose of Zoloft from 125 to 150 mg. That 50 mg increase paralyzed me. I was completely and totally exhausted, both physically and emotionally, and I had to go back down to the dose I was taking originally.

Typo, I meant to say that I went from 125 mg daily to 175 mg daily, and that because of the side effects, I had to decrease my dose back down to one 125 mg QD

Thank you!smile....I'm reeeeeeaaallly trying....just getting frustrated. I do have xanax for that in between stage. I just really want these anxious feelings to stop. I have 3 kids and I'm trying to be patient ....all I want to do is go in my room where it's quiet and fall asleep to forget.... I have no depression, just anxiety/panic.

Really stinks!.....well, I appreciate your advice and I'll stick it out.... just thought 2 weeks in I'd feel much bettersad

HopefulDee,

So you went from 25 to 100?!? I did 25 for full week and now the full pill 50 for week.... he didn't say he'd increase my dose at this point. I'm hoping the 50 works, but sounds as if it's too soon to tell?..... I was on Lexapro for 8 years and loved it! Decided I felt so good, so silly me weaned myself off of it..... 4 months off and full panic/anxiety episodes. ...out of blue.... I tried to stay off and theno broke down called my Dr and asked for Zoloft (because a friend of mine raved about it)....so, so far I'M NOT RAVING.... lol....

I'll give it more timesmile

HopefulDee,

Zoloft is a great pick for Panic. It stopped my panic dead in its tracks..

Jeffrey

It did?....SO glad to read this!!! smile I just need to be patient I guess .... I wish it would work already!

Ohhh I see. 50 mg sounds like a very low dose doesn't it for me?....maybe I need to see what works for my body.

It's the correct staring dose..

Ok...thank you! Appreciate your feedbacksmile

Anytime, Deesmile

Jeffrey

PS: Are you in the UK by any chance?

No....actually....USA.... smile

I took 25mg for 2  weeks. The first week I was sleeping good because I was taking another mdication due to transition from one medication to another so he gave me a 2nd medication for 1 week.  But when I started to take zooloft alone ( just 25mg) I could not sleep at all.  Not even get sleepy all day/night long.  It took me 5 days which I slept like 8 hours total for me to call my Doc and he immediatly took me out and put me on another medication.  Just like you I did not have depression, just anxiety so he took me out before the lack of sleep gave me depression. Now, a year later I'm taking Diazepam (Valium) 5MG at day time and 7.5MG night time and anxiety is gone and has been for a few months because all the medication for depression he tried on me did not work and just gave me several side effects.

With Valium I have "0" side effects. Before Valium I took xanax (low dose) for a few months and it worked as well, but at the end it killed my mechanical functions ( jeje) so he changed to Valium.

I don't have any problems sleeping....I never did...this medication isn't effecting my sleep- thank god!....but I just don't feel relief yet. I'm going to give it more time as its only 2 weeks.

I'm glad you found relief! ....anxiety is so annoying and interrupting!

When I stated I was told it coud take 3-6 weeks. Hope it works for you, I do have friends who are taking it and is working very good for them.

Ok...that's what I hear too.... I'm trying to be patient. I want a magic answer!! Thanks!!!!
