Zoloft experiences

Hey everyone,

I'm just looking for some insight or experiences with zoloft. I've been on it for 17days now (50mg) and I'm just wondering if anyone else felt like their side effects changed daily. One day I'm feeling pretty normal then the next im super anxious and then the next I feel like im in a dream like state. I have been suffering a lot with health anxiety and anxiety in general and I just don't like the way the meds make me feel some days. Yesterday I felt like my old self and today I feel extremely off ..like my body feels really light and I'm kinda spaced out. Is this normal or should I go see my dr asap? I know it takes a while for the meds to stabilize so I've been trying to stick it out. Some other side effects that have been bothering me is a heavy feeling in my chest / more heartburn and also it feels like I've been clenching my jaws in my sleep because my teeth /neck ache.

Has anyone else experienced these side effects ? Also , if you wanna share you success stories on zoloft it would be appreciated!!

Thanks.

Hi hope you get lots of replies. L know there are a few people out there on this med and they are having very similar side effects, lasting same amount of time. Just wanted to put your mind at rest, definitely not only one experiencing this❤️

Thank you for your response. I just don't know what to expect as this is the first time I've ever been on anti depressants. I don't really like the way they make me feel but it's better then how I was before meds. I hope the side effects ease off soon. Can't wait to start feeling normal again

These type of meds take a while to kick it so don't worry too much, this seems normal, give it a bit longer , if you still can't settle discuss it with your doctor , know it's scary when your put on meds and you don't know what to expect❤️

Meant to say 'take a while to kick in'😳❤️

It is so scary..I feel like everything is moving in slow motion even the timing of my thoughts compared to when I say them. It's hard to explain but I feel like I respond to something in my head and it takes a couple of seconds before I can actually say it.. I don't know if it's anxiety or the meds or if I'm having a stroke 😳.

Sounds like your new meds, have heard few people say exactly the same symptoms. Anxiety may heighten also as your worrying. Lots of people say there seems to be a delayed reaction from there thoughts to actually speaking and say they are struggling with the strange side effects, but they do seem to be common with this med, hang in there, but please talk to doc for reasurance, even if you could just speak to him over phone, if that's possible in your practice❤️

yes I suffered in them and eventually couldn't handle it anymore so came off as they made my anxiety worse.. I got the chest heavyness a weird dry cough a feeling like a was struggling to get a deep breathe.. ear ache and jaw pain was never off the toilet... insomnia.. heat flushes... heart rate was constantly up so lost stone and half on there tablets this was all over space of 9 weeks a came off as a couldn't handle how they made me feel anymore... they do take a while to work and they might not even work for you as it's trial and error keep your doctor updated on everything your feeling as if it continues they may just not be for you and they can try something new.. id just rather go natural

Yes I get the heavy feeling in my chest and then the urge to cough..jaw pain , heartburn , body aches and insomnia as well as increased anxiety . It's only been 3 weeks so I'm trying to hold out until I see my dr next week. I'm also on a slew of vitamins after seeing a naturopath so hopefully everything will even out soon . This has truly been like I'm living in my own person hell.

I know how that feels all I done was cry for months on end couldn't leave my house a was a mess a very nervous mess.. yes you can keep going only you know how you feel sometimes it all goes away once they settle into your body.. I just couldn't go past the 9 week mark a was just so unwell and had kids to look after hope you feel better tho I know how your feeling and you'll feel like your stuck like this forever but your not a kept thinking this is my life now am never getting better but I have gotten a lot better I still have anxiety but no where near what I had...

So great you can reasure kaila. It's so crappy when we feel like this, but such a relief someone else knows how it feels, I didn't tell anyone for years how rotten I felt, thought I would never feel normal, just such a relief to talk and not feel alone, nice people out here taking the time to share how they cope. If I could go back 20 yrs I'd have got help sooner. Thank god we couldn't google back then😊❤️

That's exactly where I'm at right now . This is my life .. I've lost the person I was before the panic attack that threw me into an anxious state I can't seem to escape. I also have a son and I have to cope for him but if I could curl up in a ball and cry my life away I would. I hate this and I hate feeling like I'm going to die . It feels like there's no end in sight but I know that I am doing better then I was a week ago so I just have to keep pushing forward. What did you do or take to help you if you don't mind me asking ? I am willing to try any avenue in order to help myself no matter what it takes . I'm seeing a therapist , a nautropath my doctor and starting acupuncture treatment but if you have any tips to help I'd greatly appreciate it .

It is so helpful to know you're not alone isn't it. Google is truly the devil for me , I google something and if I have one symptom all the sudden I have the illness or disease . It's awful . I had my first

Panic attack a few weeks ago which is what triggered this mess and now I'm convinced I'm going to have a heart attack or stroke. I can not say enough how torturous anxiety is but how comforting it is to be reassured . Thank you both ❤️

Talk anytime , it really helps, it saved me, once I broke down and got this out in the open. I used to stay home locked away panicky, living in my own head because I thought people would say I was strange and needed to pull myself together. Nobody can understand how bad anxiety makes you feel unless you have good nghad it, my mum is always there for me and listens and even sleeps over when I've been a mess( I'm a grown woman) but honestly sometimes just could not calm down. Even my mum admits even she can't imagine how bad it is. Things will get better once you get on right track, talk anytime, really helps❤️

Hi

Been on Zoloft for 2 years now . Trust me these side effects will settle I had loads of different side effects. But after a few months , I'd say a least 3 you will feel much more settled. I don't even think about them now , just take 100 mg before bed and that's it . My life is a million times better now . Hope it all works for you

Ahh thank you! So comforting to hear this..I've been questioning if it's side effects or my anxiety or maybe they just aren't working. I am barely sleeping or eating I can't wait to start Feeling like my old self again.

I attend councilling and I just take every day as it comes if a have a bad day I just accept it to be a bad day and not a bad life.. I don't take a thing now just with the bad experience first time a just don't feel it's for me.. nice walks and keeping buzy help me if a can't calm down at all that day then I will go to my room when I can and take a breather listen to relaxing music or do breathing excersises.. when I keep my mind buzy I seem to be able to tune it out now it's usually at night when it's all quiet it try's to creep back in.. am struggling to get to sleep now ever since coming over pills a just can't seem to sleep... so this is another hurdle a need to cross.. I got some lavender oil that I put few drops of onto a tissue and put it under my pillow not sure if it helps just heard it can be calming... you can beat this tho.. it's like eventually your body gets sick of it and even tho it's still there your able to ignore it more.. that's what happend to me.. but in saying that I can control it good at home it's when a need to go out it gets difficult... it will get better tho I promise and a wouldn't say it if it wasn't true.. keep going and get lots of support if you can.. don't be afraid to keep going back to your doctor either that's what their there for...

Thank you so much for the reassurance. The worst part is the physical. I have chest , arm and back pain and my mind keeps telling me a heart attack is impending and it has me crippled in fear. I've gone to the emergency twice and they did an ekg and X-ray /blood but all the reading i did online has me so scared . I just wish it would all stop 😥

I get these symptoms on and off too the more I think of them the longer they stay it's all the stress hormones running through your body and like even you central nervous system is firing all over the place it causes all these aches and pains it's crazy what it can do to our bodies I've booked a wee week away with my girls and husband I leave today and can feel myself getting all tense already as am leaving my home comforts so a know if a keep

It up I'll end up all sore... just keep telling yourself this is my anxiety it can't harm me am ok.. I know it's tough as in beginning if anyone dared tell me any of this stuff I would look at them in discust of how awful and frightend l felt..

Just try your best to distract yourself and try not to focus on the pain longer you ignore it and try destressing it gives the body time to relax and these aches and pains will leave.. sorry for my bad punctuation a end up ahead of myself putting down everything that I forget my punctuation I bought magnesium flakes for my bath cause again I heard it can help with the aches and pains from holland and Barrett 9.99 tho but you just put wee half cup in your bath.. can talk to me anytime I check my emails almost daily anyways.. chin up! You will beat this eventually just takes time and practice it's awful while your going through that's why it's good to even come on here and speak to others who are going through it also or who have conquered it... x

Your definetly not alone... keep getting all your fears and worries out too as others prob have had same and it's so re assuring especially when the symptoms are adding to your anxiety.. but you'll see how common your symptoms are... hopefully it will keep putting your mind at rest.. but trust me a was never out the doctors must of thought a was a hyperchondreact... but a just couldn't settle until they checked my heart rate and blood pressure sometimes.. x
