Zoloft withdrawals after extreme short term use

This is probably going to sound crazy to many people, but unfortunately is very real. Around two weeks ago I took 25mg of ZoLoft, as prescribed by my psychiatrist. After taking the tablet I experienced very odd side effects which made me feel almost high. I hated this feeling and decided to discontinue the tablets, I know that people will say I should have continued but I wasn't sure I needed them in the first place. Anyway, I assumed such a small dosage would not result in any withdrawal side effects but have been met with quite the opposite. For the past two weeks I have experienced severe derealization, vertigo, depression, anxiety, insomnia and narcolepsy. It is at a point were I feel like I am going crazy. I'm losing hope at this point in time and am seriously worried I have done some long term damage to my brain by taking that one tablet. Basically I just am asking for some advice as to why I am experiencing such withdrawals and will they ever end, because it certainly doesn't feel like it at this point in time.

Typically one tablet is not enough to cause any extreme withdrawal or discontinuation syndrome. Though, SSRI work affect people differently and NO you didn't damage your brain!

As far as how long Sertraline stays in your body, it has a half-life of about 25 hours which means that ever 25 hours there is half as much in your body as before, once it's completely out of your system then you would feel symptoms of discontinuation syndrome, but like you said it's been about 2 weeks, what I would do is schedule a doctor's appointment soon or better yest call your doctor. Either way things will work out so don't you worry and call your doctor in the morning to ease your mind. :-)

Thanks very much for the reply Dan, I'm unfortunately overseas at the moment but will make sure to schedule an appointment with my doctor the day I get back!
