I've tried to stop zolpidem after 3 monthsand i've found that after 2 sleepless nights our body make us sleep for at least 1 night, then another 2 or 3 sleepless nights. I have started zolpidem again because i really need to sleep more than a few times/weeks. Is there anyone here who have stop zolpidem and has been able to restore a normal sleep pattern after a few weeks ? ( even if it's only 4 hours a night, it would be fine)
I'm exactly the same, sleep only 1 night out of 3 without Zolpidem. Tried to stop taking them but have had to start again - only problem is I'm running out and the doctor wont prescribe any more - feeling desparate.
for how long did you stop ? I've only spent 10 days without them but now that winter is over and my kid can go to school by himself I can afford some sleepless nights. I'll try for a few weeks and then might go see my doctor and ask for a rapid detox with Flumazenil. I am more affraid of the severe anxiety and panic attacks. I'll be taking some oxazepam but i wonder how it will go. I'll post again to talk about it.
i forgot to add that the zolpidem 10 mg dose doesn't put me to sleep anymore, so they have become rather useless. I am surprised at how short was the duration of the effectiveness of this product. I was fine with 5mg for 2 weeks then had to go up to 10 mg ...and after only few months they don't do much anymore. So, I'm stuck anyway.
( there should be an EDIT button in here so that we can fix our posts sometimes ! )
I stopped taking Zolpidem (10 mg) for about 10 days and put up with the (mainly) sleepless nights. Have had to go back on them again last week though as just couldnt cope any longer without sleep and a very busy week ahead. I didnt suffer any anxiety or panic attacks when I stopped though so dont really think withdrawal is a problem, except for the inability to sleep without them.
If you have sleepless night problem then why are you stop to take ambien tablet?. You should complete the full course whatever your doctor assigned you.
after a while the zolpidem is not so effective, we need more and the maximum is 10 mg. Then the other problem is that it's not so effective at maintaining sleep, so I wake up after only 3 or 4 hours maximum. I find that it's messing up my brain more than it help. The quality of sleep is not good. It also cost a lot here , for what i get in return. The doctor prescribed me Trazodone a few days ago, so I'm tapering off the zolpidem
