Has anyone else had the above side effects? It's driving me mad. Cinstant tension in my jaw and tongue and teeth feel really sensitive. I keep feeling like I am pushing my teeth forward at the front and they will become loose. Also I feel depressed and stressed. This has only happened since starting on zopiclone. I got the zopiclone to alternate with temazepam because the temazepam was losing its effect and I didn't want to become dependent, but these side effects of zop last for days, even if I take the temazepam for a couplle of days. I have decided to stop the zopiclone. Is there another drug anyone could recommend? Thanks. I need something because my hyperthyroidism keeps me awake otherwise.
Lunesta? Ativan? I'm not sure really...temazepam are really addictive...how much would you take per dose?

I have those symptoms too, I've physically ground my teeth. My dental surgeon has made me a gum shield to wear. It's so annoying this tension, clenching my jaw. I've been following a taper programme so I've cut down from 4 or 5 zops per day to one quarter every night. I'm not using any other medication as substitute. At first I thought the jaw clenching was due to anxiety or stress as I'm dealing with some big financial and health problems at the moment. 7 weeks into my taper, I think it may be a lingering withdrawal symptom as I was using zop to manage my anxiety/stress. Basically I just loved the soporific feeling. I don't know if this is of any help, at least it will inform you that you're not the only one. I also have thyroid problems and a chronic autoimmune disease. Take care.
None of us can recommend medication, but do go to your doctor and tell her/him that the zopiclone is giving you side-effects, and ask for something else.
Ativan is a benzodiazepine and so are Temazepam.
Both need to be avoided at all costs.
I take 10mg temazepam a night and have done for a year. Before that I took it on and off for 15 years. I have no WD symptoms if I don't take it for a few nights, but I do agree it can be addictive and that is why I am looking for something else that I can take to give me a break several days a week from temazepam. However, I am very sensitive to meds and temazepam is one of the few meds I can tolerate with no side effects whatsoever.
Thanks, Sheila. That helps a lot to realise I am not the only one. I was only taking one quarter of a 7.5mg zop. Some nights a bit more and only 3 nights a week but yet this side effect lingers. I just took temazepam last night, and although the jaw tension is slightly less, it is still there along with my sensitive teeth.
Lunesta is a Z drug and ativan is the trade name for lorazepam, both of which are as addictive as temazepam - and zopiclone.
I can only siggest that you read about Temazepam.
and theharm that they do. You may become tolerant and this is
when you will know what withdrawal symptoms are.
You wont have any withdrawal symptoms the way you are taking them.
If you were to come off them. It can take a few weeks and then wham
you will know about it. But again you maybe one of the lucky ones that can get away with it. Only time will tell.
Or make the difficult decision to come off sleeping pills altogether. You'll need a very supportive and knowledgeable doctor to help you with this. Look at the Ashton Method on line and see what you think.

It certainly wasnt a difficult decision for me to make to come off my benzo
sleeping pill. And this was against my doctors advice at the time when I decided. Now if I had stayed on them. They would of made me come off them as they are doing to lots of patients. So I saved myself a few years of becoming more addicted although I had in fact become tolerant. I was
already taking the highest dose possible. So I dread to think what the hell they would of done with me back then.
No doubt added more drugs as they did before in an attempt to make me better. Strange that i am almost 3 years drug/benzo free and getting on with what is known as life. If I had still been taking these drugs. I seriously doub that i would still be here.
