Zyprexa and movement disorders

I was was wrongly diagnosed with bi-polar and prescribed Zyprexa, lamictal, celexa and restoring (for insomnia)" I took this combo for about 6 years before finding out from 2 other psych docs that I had PTSD . After I went off these drugs I developed  a serious movement disorder. I t  is called Tartive dyskinesia  and is something I would not wish on my worst enemy. My mouth, jaw, tongue, lips and lower face are in constant motion every waking minute. It can affect anyone but  my age and gender make it likely it will never go away. There is very little  a movement disorders spec.(neurologist) can do for me.  Please use this info as a warning to be sure your doc knows what he or she is doing. These medications are serious business. Hope this helps someone out there.

Thank you for sharing your story, Jeanne. I am so sorry this has happened to you, and you are right: doctors can all too quickly prescribe medication without fully understanding the issue.

It is a very sobering thought

Yes I wiil take this problem undr your advisement.

The drugs we take can leave many of us with problems we did not have before and it is really nasty when errors have been made. Sorry never really suffices when something goes very wrong.
