1 Year Today

Hi All
Well its exactly a year ago today ,12th Sept ,since i had my LHR .
I cant believe how quickly the year has gone and how my life has changed. Prior to the op i was struggling to walk 100 m without stopping and that prompted me after 5 years of rejections by my local NHS trust to invoke “patients choice” and choose my hospital and surgeon. I was incredibly lucky and was seen and operated on within 3 months.
I embraced the recovery process and followed all instructions including using crutches for the full 12 weeks after to avoid developing a limp. Safe to say now, everything just feels totally natural and sometimes i have to remind myself that the op even happened!!
Tomorrow i will be walking the 13.1 mile Virtual Great North Run as a milestone for myself to show how far this fantastic procedure has changed my life.
Cheers
John

You were lucky getting your hip done before Covid.

congratulations.. your willingness to share a great story with a positive outlook and amazing skills to walk 13 miles is a testament to how thr can improve mobility…

Update! Completed the Virtual Great North Run today and my new hip is the only part of my legs not hurting!!!

after this i know your off to a record breaking hip activities…take care . three months after THR i went to Disney and Epcot Center in one DAY AND thru to the next day…just walking . rested by sitting occasionally. lots of ups and down hills, climbing stairs … i refer to it as the endurance obstacle course for hippies…like us.. generally in good shape before surgery . THUMBS UP ! that was 20 years ago and have the same hip joint…
