10 mg auf 15 mg Citalopram

i have been on 10mg since march and doc has upped it to 20mg, i am scared to take the 20 so ive been taking 15mg for 3 days. i just wanted to know if this is ok and if anyone else has done it.

i would say yes, you should be fine. i was really scared to start taking 10mg so i broke it in half to 5mg then moved up to 10mg.

Hi Vicky,
If you have been on 10mg for six months or more it should be OK for you to jump up to 20mg. You will probably get the side-effects you had when you started Citalopram whether you go up to 15mg or 20mg. However, as my GP told me, “it’s your body, I’ll let you decide”. The main thing to do is not chop and change the dose.
If you fee 15mg will be more suitable then make sure you stay on that dose for at least two months before going up to 20mg.
Last year I went from 20mg to 30mg and finally 40mg over a period of six months and was OK. I had side-effects but they were the same side-effects as I had on 20mg.
Regards.

Hello, I am new here and struggling with starting Citalopram. I was on it for three years, came off it for 14 months and am now starting again. I have started with 5mg and have experienced most of the side effects. HIDEOUS!! it has been 2 weeks since i started. I wondered how soon I should increase my dose. my plan is to go up in increments of 2.5mg to try and keep the side effects minimal.

my doctor wanted me to start on 10mg but i did that first time around and it was hell.
any advice would be much appreciated from those that are sensitive to meds and chose to creep up slowly with the dose.
THANK YOU!! This forum is such a big help to me.
