IT HAS BEEN 13 weeks since i had left hip replacement. i still can’t lift my left leg fro the knee up. is this normal?
MARTI**
I couldn't either but then I went to a hydro pool and they got it moving good luck x just go in pool and walk in water then hold on sides and do little kicks up and down x
I would not think so. With my first hip replacement, I could not lift my leg from the hip for the longest time. Physical therapy thought that I should have been able to. Then one day I could, as if by magic! With my second hip replacement I had no such problems. Everyone is different. I would certainly ask physical therapy or the doctor.
This is only happening because your muscles are weak and as Terri says you need to do daily exercises to strengthen them, sit in your chair and do foot lift, once you can do it in your chair you can lay on bed with rolled up towel under your knee and see how that feels
thank you
thank you
thank you
I had lhr on may 16 and am able to move my leg up and down. walking with slight limp, and some stiffness still. I am improving a little each week. Exercise and physiotherapy have helped a lot. Everyone heals at different rates... Have you spoken to your surgeon to find out if you are on track?
yes i have spoken with my surgeon. i have MYASTHENIA GRAVIS so that has slowed my healing down. i go back on MONDAY for xrays and see what could be going on. i have been to physical therapy and i'm exericising at home. im doing all i am told to do.
I wish you well and hope for a goid recovery for you
