As those of you who've seen some of my other posts I got cataract surgery in my right eye done on 10th May and now my left eye was done yesterday (5th July)
As most posts on forums are about people with problems I thought I'd post my experiences of a (hopefully) trouble free successful surgery, since I was told by my surgeon that 98% of surgeries were successful I assumed I'd be one of them, unfortunately it didn't turn out quite that way ๐
I am surprised at the differences between the two surgeries, as I thought both eyes would be the same.
Right eye: Main points were
Very quick surgery
Very little pain afterwards and practically no pain the next day
Distance vision was excellent, practically from day 1 (although that was to change)
Initial starburst went after about 4 days
Left eye:
Surgery took much longer than the first eye
Had a lot of pain immediately after, although that may be due to getting a steroid injection into my eye (because of the problems in my other eye)
No pain today
I'm a bit disappointed with the mini monovision, my distance and near are poor and my intermediate good, I thought both intermediate and near would be good - still it's early days
I'm still optimistic about a good overall outcome, if my Macular inflammation clears up and my near vision gets better I'll be delighted.
For those contemplating cataract removal I can tell you the actual surgery is a breeze, my main advice would be to wait after the first eye gets done before you get the second one fixed as there can be vision changes even after a period of time - my first eye was brilliant for the first three weeks before I got inflammation of the Macular which has subsequently reduced my distance vision and given me distorted near vision ( I think, touch wood, that my near vision has stabilised in that eye and may be slightly better)
Hope everyone having surgery soon has positive outcomes
