On a good note I have no pain in me leg at all that seems to of gone which is such a positive thing.
The pain in me back I can't say is pleasant and trying get comfy is a mission on its own .
Trying get the pain killers right helps , trying not to take them in less I really need them .
Managed to shower and eat little but often , stocking are great have to wear for weeks be my new fashion ha ha
I know the recovery is bit of a long road and I try get me self up every hour have a walk round house . Sit down for a bit . Not ventured outside yet am gonna try have little walk later even if it's a few houses up .
Postive thinking all the way now .....
Oi Donna
Thanks Michael , I will take it slow come this far now . Am to scared to do much just gonna try build me walking bit by bit . Am in no rush , have go hospital Monday for them to do me dressing and I got back again in July .

Hi Donna
Glad to hear it went well and just to echo michaels comments, take it easy, it's a long recovery. I need to keep reminding myself of that. I am 4 weeks post op (after 8 months of pain) and today without thinking I reached to lift a heavy bag of shopping out the car grrrrr.
Take care
Hiya Scotland, glad your doing well , and that was naughty lifting a bag . Can you tell me how long roughly the pain in the back eases. Coz at mo it hurts like mad and can't get comfy at all . I lay on my side but me legs aches after awhile and laying on me back pretty much a no no . I have loads pillows to prop me up .
Ant advice be great x
Hiya Donna
It took me between 2-3 weeks before I could tolerate lying on my back. After I got my staples out it seemed I had more swelling above the wound. Thankfully I saw the physio at 3 weeks who had a good look and said it was all normal (no leaking, hotness or redness etc) and that swelling is your bodies own way of healing. I am now 4 weeks post op and can lie quite comfortably on my back for a good half hour or so.
I was the same Donna, I would get sore lying on my side too after a while, especially my hips but that gets easier. It's hard to see progress day to day but after a week or so you will look back to the last week and see how well you are doing.
We set up a folding bed in the living room so that I could lie down which has been brilliant. If you can go that it really helps. If you have cool packs (or even hot water bottle with really cold water in it) that is really soothing on your back too.
Hope you are feeling bit easier today.
Thanks so much , I lay down stairs for a bit then I go upstairs to bed . And I get myself up every hour and have little walk . Going back hospital tomorrow to get dressing changed so that make me happy that everything looks the way it should .
Highlight of my day is have a shower , been up since 5 . Pain and not knowing what to do with me self .
Good to hear that your doing well , roll on next few weeks to atlas be comfy
Thanks again x
If I need anymore advice I ask you that's if u don't mind it's good to get advice from someone that's going threw it now as well
Hi Donna
Absolutely, it's always good to get advice/tips from someone else going through the same thing. It does get easier, just keep doing what your doing. Sleeping is tricky for first few weeks but believe me it does get a bit easier. A shower is still highlight of my day too, makes you feel human again doesn't it!
Keep up the painkillers, that was advice I got from physio when I said I wanted to try and cut them down. She said if painkillers help to keep you moving then that's what you need. I stupidly after first week almost stopped them and two days later was in so much pain I was crying so keep them in your system if you can.
You will have peace of mind getting your wound looked at and to hear that it is all looking well.
I get that with pain killers coz yesterday I felt I didn't need that many . And last nite and today been crying as well, so I took what I need to take and I will continue to do so .
As for sleep don't feel I had much over the last 9 months as it is so another few weeks shouldn't matter ha ha .
Xx
That's true Donna, we get used to lack of sleep ha ha. The pain is just different, but at least it's healing pain now. Yes keep up the painkillers!
I have been my morning walk, will take my phone next time and see how far I am walking. Time to sit and have a coffee now!
Take care

HI alison,
Hope you had nice day , I have another question. When I had op I had no pain in back of my leg at all. I have noticed that I have pain in back of my thigh. It's not like how it was before op
My be it's me being bit paranorid, or you think it's just were had operation on me back .
Surely it can't be what had before , it's not down me leg just in the back me thigh.
It's hard get yourself away from pain every little niggle I have am like no it can't be back
Thank you
Donnaxx
Hi Donna
I think it's only natural that we are so aware of any niggles and can't help worrying "is this it coming back". I got some thigh pain like that in days after op and then in week after lot of pain in my calf too. What I also got was what felt like start of muscle cramp. When I spoke to physio she said what's happening is the nerve is now managing to send signals to your muscles... so if you think about it no wonder we are getting pains and niggles but it's so hard not to worry isn't it.
Hope you have felt a bit easier.
Alison
Thanks so much Alison, you helped me a great deal today . Make me feel lot better in messaging you coz your going threw it.
Have good evening and thanks once again x
Donna
Your welcome Donna. It always helps speaking to someone else who's going thru it and understands. Hope you have a better night.

Oi Donna,
Amor e sorte
