3 weeks in at 20 MG celexa/citalopram now.

Any feedback on when side effects start to diminish? Stated at 10 mg for a week now at 20 MG for 2 weeks. Feels like one long weird hang over with morning anxiety thrown in daily. Exhausting!,

Thx in advance for any words of experience and support!

Hey Shane sorry to hear your still suffering from side effects.

Have you seen any improvement at all so far?

How long were you on 10mg before you went up to 20?

I know I've suggested this before but have you tried taking it at night?

2 weeks is pretty early I felt spaced out for a while if i remember correctly I was so spacy that I would get disoriented going from indoors to outdoors.

Side effects can last a few weeks - sometimes longer.  Everyone's different.  After the side effects begin to ease, you still won't be better as your body will still be adapting to the meds which can take some months.  During this time you'll be up and down with your mood, and sometimes it can feel like you're back at the beginning.  Lots of people mistake this for the meds not working and either increase (thinking its what they need) or stop.  It doesn't matter what dose you're on you will still get the same feelings.  You can't just stop it ...... but it will ease off over time.

3 weeks is still really early.  Many people start feeling better at 3-4 months, though some do earlier.  I took 6 months to recover.

They are worth it though ...... they will help you in time.

Thanks so Much! I feel pretty calm and relaxed by late afternoon and evening. Mornings are hellish typically. I take my 20 MG at night because It knocks me out so don't want to change that routine.

I just need to push thru seems to be worth it in the end!

Thanks for your help so Appreciated!

Hiya, yes definitely have a reprieve in the pm when I feel not too bad. Appetite has finally improved. Mornings I am an anxious zombie. Will be 4 weeks by next Monday. Waiting for the magic to happen and finnaly wake up not in a state of agitation and anxiety.

Best Shane

Yep - exatly how it worked for me.  Mornings were dreadful but it started wearing off by the evening, which over time spread to the afternoons and eventually into the mornings.

Throughout that time I had times when I had blips which lasted days, but then I'd return to the evenings when I felt ok again.

I got to learn that though I'd wake feeling awful it wasn't how the rest of my day would pan out.

Then one day I woke up with no anxiety.  All this took 6 months.  From then on, though was anxiety free all day I'd still get the occasional blip, but they eventually stopped.

Have been well ever since.

Ive just be upped to the 20mg today dreading taking it sad

I know, tough going at first. Today is particularly bad for me. Feels like the worst kind of hang over ever. I just try to keep the light at the end of the tunnel in mind and push thru.

Stay connected to this forum. Provides both info and support.

Hoping it goes well for you! FYI my jump from 10 mg to 20 MG was uneventful it was a week later that I started to feel worse.

Take care, eat as well as possible and try to get some exercise in. All the best!

Oh God I'm dreading it was on the 10 and it was about four days I took a funny turn and went up to A&E. I know you shouldn't just stop taking them but sometimes feel, like doing it

I know it is scary because the days ahead are so damn unpredictable. What keeps me going is that the feedback from so many that eventually I will have relief and myself back. Frankly I really don't know what else to do. My anxiety and panic came out of no where about 6 months ago. I still don't understand it all. Just know I can't live with it and this seems to be the best solution. I tried the usual meditation, deep breathing, mind fullness but when the panic alarm goes off in my body none of those coping techniques work for me. Take care. I am on this forum often. Always here to provide support and listen.

O how only been on the 20 mg since Friday time will tell last time when on the 10 it took four days then I went all funny dizziness and body was like cold flowing through me

Talking about that I had a funny moment there felt a bit wobbly in the legs and kind of panicked

Hi Martin, I had a not so funny incident last night. Was standing talking to my hubby felt dizzy told him I think I am going to pass out and sure as hell I fainted out cold. I was only out about 30 seconds or so but very scary for both of us. I attribute to basically laying around all day and not eating a whole lot. My BP and heart rate were super low but gradually came up. I will talk with my doc this week to see what she thinks. I feel okay today. Weird though. Try not to panic when you feel odd it will pass. The days ahead will get better and better for you.

Shane

Blimey Shane glad you are ok today its funny how it just creeps up on you I try my best to breath but sometimes I just get all anxious anyway I'll try and get some sleep and look after yourself x

You too. Wishing you better days ahead. Every day we get thru is a day closer to feeling great. We will get There!

How are you doing these Days?

Hi Shane how are you doing.  Oh as for me all ok did have a episode where i thought my blood was running cold have you ever had a sensation like this ?

Saying that Shane just had an episode there I was just sitting on the couch the started feeling dizzy and this cold feeling running through body I could feel my heart beating faster and though I was going to collapse and this feeling I wasn't getting air . Me being me I phoned the nhs helpline and was told to go to A and E

Wow Martin that is scary! Did you go to A&E? What did they Say? I have never had that cold sensation but certainly had every other bloody side effect and then some. Every morning I wake up to this flood of adrenalin that kicks off my morning anxiety. Feels like hell. Cannot wait until I get past this side effect.

Hope today is better for you. How many weeks are you now?

Never went up to the hospital just sat there until it passed was up a few months back with the same symptoms and a Dr said it was cos of these tablets only been on the 29mg since 13th April. Hope you are feeling ok today x
