4 weeks post op and still in pain?!

Morning ladies. I had my op 4 weeks ago (prolapse and vaginal hysterectomy)- and think I may have done too much - but want your advise on whether this is just normal recovery?? I had a kidney infection after week 2 which was treated with antibiotics- that went and I felt great so went for dinner with friends for a couple of hours last Friday. Since then my lower back and tummy have been really painful- very much period type pains ALL the time!! During the day I’m resting then the children get dropped home so I’m cooking them dinner and putting them to bed - with the odd loads of washing here and there putting bits away etc so that I get up and down to move about regularly. Surely this can’t be too much??? Is the pain normal after 4 weeks? Any advise would be great!

You would be surprised, 4 weeks isn’t that long , I’m 7 weeks in now went on Tuesday for my check at hospital, said I was healing good just still don’t over do it, and you think well what’s over doing it, went Xmas shopping today walked for 3 hours and I know about it , period pain feeling, so just listen to your body , my gynaecologist said it can take a while to get back to your 100% fitness, so take care and enjoy resting because you won’t have it forever, get waited on lol x

I agree with Margaret. I’m seven weeks and doing well but still get tired and surgeon says pain is my body’s way of telling me I’m doing too much. Four weeks feels a long time but looking back it’s really not. It’s so easy to underestimate the seriousness of this surgery cos you can’t see it. Take it easy and good luck!

I did the same thing, doing to much too soon. My doctor released me after two weeks from restrictions. I raked leaves, pine needles, lifted boxes, carried groceries, laundry, and picked up my 20 lb. dog sometimes. I had pain very much like yours. It take 6 to 8 wks. for stitches to heal and my surgery was sling surgery for incontinence. You surgery definitely needs more recovery time and don't lift more than they tell you and if you over do it you will have pain. I don't have much help with the things I need to do. You may be in the same situation, if not, let others do some of the work and lifting. I know you don't want to end up in surgery again. Merry Christmas and Good Luck with your recovery. God Bless, Shari
