5 mm eingebetteter Nierenstein

Can an embedded kidney stone completely surrounded by tissue move?

I had a urologist try to remove a 5mm stone through Ureteroscopy. He couldn’t get it since it wasn’t in the collection system, it was in the kidney tissue. That was 9yrs ago and I just had a abdominal ultrasound for other reasons and the stone showed up again in the report. Same size, unobstructed.

This must be such a rare case, I can’t find any info about stones embedded in the kidney tissue. Can they move at all?

Refer to Randall’s Plaque. Some theory there as to the formation and the embedded deposits that calcium oxylate stones grow from.
