Hi again, so I went to U of M for a second opinion cuz my hematologist wanted me to have 2 phlebs a week. I'm told by the new Docs I'm doing the right things and to keep it up. I do not need to do it twice a week, that would be too much on my body. Anyway, they ran test for my A1C....i'm at 3.3 Low! Anyone else have this and what did they do about it?
A quick google reports that a normal range for A1C is <5.7%. Anything higher than that you are heading for diabetes.
Yes, that I do know but a 3.3 is Too low and am wondering if anyone else has this issue due to so much blood being taken
I talk to a lot of people with HH as well as medical people and researchers and go to HH conferences. There has not been one mention of phlebotomies causing low A1C and it being a problem.
Having said that, I googled "low A1C and iron overload" (try it for yourself), and medical results report that phlebotomies "should" cause a FALSE low A1C.
Has you dr told you it is a problem?
