Hi all its my first time posting on here on Dec 11th I woke up with tingling in both feet this spread quickly up both legs up to knees then into both hands to wrist I had not been ill prior to this this tingling is constant and I haven't had a minute without ,I've had numerous bloods on clear neck xray fine ,nerve study showed severe carpal tune only in left hand but I had no problems with hand before this I saw neurologist last week who wasn't happy with nerve study so I'm. Having another plus an emg test I'm having a brain and cervical spine mri next week also had more bloods all clear I'm so worried my legs don't feel like my legs anymore Im 40 very fit and am still doing everything I was before but with constant tingling day and night I asked neurologist about ms but he zed this came in symmetrical and very sudden onset so very rare of ms also asked about brain tumour he just sed that normally one sided I was in a car accident in June bad whiplash and head injury with towel rail in sep left me severe left head pain till Oct but no headaches since any ideas or anyone else like this I do have underactive thyroid but they zed would not cause this any advice appreciated dawn
Hi, after any trauma like a car crash can leave you with neurological issues, like the tingling in your feet etc. I am sure the doctors will find something you can take to make this more bearable for you.
Hi carol I would of thought if from then it would of been a lot sooner than Dec start when crash June and Dr's saying that too I was spinal boarded to hospital had basic crazy of head and neck and let home this came on so suddenly out of no where never had anything wrong with hands or legs I'm so fed up
Hi Dawn
Mine came on out of nowhere and was told it could have been with something years ago lying dormant. I have had it for 3 years now taking lots of meds. Sorry but sometimes things cant be explained. You just live with it and dont let it control you.
The MRI will be your answer!! Very strange.
I wish you luck but keep us posted
Hi carol was yours acute symmetrical tingling in all limbs and have it improved at all in the years you've had it the tingling is horrendous really strong and causes pain it's awful I'm so sick of it
Hi Dawn
It started off with tingling then pain which was awful could not even wear shoes. Its now controlled by drugs.
Dawn All this sounds like it may be due to a neckor back injury, I would see a physio and get a thorough assessment done.
Hi Jane my neck hurts bad on and off I had a ordinary xray which was normal my gp says that should of shown if neck damaged I have no back pain at all no headaches now but still this continues its got higher up my legs and up my arms literally feel there just vibrating constantly it's so strange to wake up and your limbs are not the same it's 3 months solid next week
Hi Jane I cannot read your last comment it says it has been deleted
I think it has to due with your car accident as often symptoms don't start up for several months. I hope you did not settle with the insurance company as this can cost a lot of money! Good luck get MRI also check your blood sugars have a complete panel done!
Hi just to update my brain and cervical spine scan were entirely normal still tingling constant in all limbs waiting now on another nerve study and emg test in April this is driving me mad
Hi Dawn
I am sorry to hear that u are still having problems.
As your MRI did not show anything I would deifinitely request a copy of the cd of the san to show it to another specialist for a second opinion.
You mentioned emg/nerve conduction tess. I assume that you have been referred to a neurologist and/or rheumatologist.
dawn as your vitamin D, B12 and thyroid function been checked at all?
I've had numerous bloods all normal I have thyroid disease for last 7 years at time this happened it had gone out of range but not major I was given higher dose now I've gone hyperthyroid so dose reduced to what I was on before b12 could of been low but I supplemeted when tingling started and it was 10 days before bloods taken so result would be skewed b12 was 425 it's now 675 on March bloods vit d is high end 75 due to supplements ,I'm under the neuro he said was in blood or brain it's in neither so where I go from here I don't know my legs feel like voltage going through them I could understand if I had days without but I haven't had 5 seconds without this since started on 11th Dec so something damaged my nerves badly overnight I just can't understand what everytime I type in Google comes up with gullian barre syndrome I've seen there are mild cases where ppl are still able to walk but chances of having this are extremely rare I just cannot understand how I was super fit no aches at all in legs or hands and over night they were all damaged it's so strange
Have b6 checked. B6 in vitamins can cause neuropathy and neurological symptoms.
My granddaughter got Gullian Barre' syndrome when she was 5 her symptoms and mine were almost exactly the same in the beginning we both walked stiff legged, fell and extreme pain. The only way to diagnose GBS is a spinal tap and treatment is IVIG. It can get into your respiratory system and can cause death so please go see a good neurologist. She was in and out of ICU for 6 months but now is in college, she danced her whole life and has no further symptoms. I have had the pain for 10 years, nothing helps with Peripheral Neuropathy. Yes check vit b and D. Good luck!
Dawn You need to make a list of all medicatons you have taken and google the side effects.
