Aciclovir ?

My doc put me on acyclovir for 5 days. Has anyone else with PR done this? Did it work? Im going on three weeks and am going nuts.

And by the way I am so glad I found this forum (well, my partner found it in an effort to help me feel better). I have been so depressed and not sleeping and so stressed. Im going to mexico in a month and just hoping this gets better. I feel like a leper. It is so embarrassing. My partner is at Walgreens right now getting all the stuff ya’ll have recommended.

I never went to the doctor but I am convinced that PR is viral like herpes.  I hope it helps. After 5 months mine finally all disappeared. Tanning helps dry them out the most. If I get stressed or immune system is lowered I’ll get a few spots. Just like fever blisters. I’m praying for quick relief.

There have been some studies done with acyclovir. One study said it helped, and other did a double blind and said it didn't help at all. That is the problem with PR. The doctors can't even figure out what it is or what causes it! If you are itchy, try any cream with lidocaine- like aspercream or sunburn cream. I wish you the best of luck!

My PR cleared completely in around 3-4 weeks.

I took Acyclovir after I was diagnosed (you can read my story), I can't say for certain but considering how fast I recovered compared to other people in this forum I think it helped me a lot (along with moisturizing, sleeping early-ish, vit-C and overall looking after my body and mind avoiding stressful situations). Try it, it won't harm just remember to drink lots of water to help your liver. Have a good time in Mexico, the sun might also help recover faster just don't over do it.

Has the acyclovir helped you?

So it turned out not to be PR afterall. I stopped the acyclovir after 4 days. I started prednisone for 16 days. After a biopsy and a skin swab no one knows what my rash was. But it went away.
