I have just started taken citalopram and just wanted to know what time does everybody else takes there's as I take mine roughly 9pm and in bed by 10. Also any advice would be great on what side effects other people have had and how long till they felt normal if you will any advice would be very appreciated
Hi James
I take mine in morning. The side effects I have been getting are jittery and shaky hands. They should get better in a few weeks. Hope this helps.
I take 20mg divided up in 2 doses. 10mg in the morning and evening. The only side effects I had were headache, fuzzy head, slight hand shakes.
Thanks in response I have only been on them for 3 days and only just started getting side effects like feeling sick and lack of sleep i used to be on diff meds but I was always moody and had a very short fuse so I stopped taking them but my anxiety came back so I bit the bullet and now I Am on citalopram
My doctor did say after a week up to 20mg as Iam only on 10 at the moment but see how I get on with 10 first as I don't wanna take more than I need to. How long how you been on citalopram for?
Hi
When I was on citalopram I took mine before bed too.
The first side effect I had was feeling panicky now and then and also suffered with stomach pains for the first few weeks.
Side effects that stayed with me all through the 2 years was blurry vision now and then, weight gain, sexual stimulation totally went away with no desires to be intimate and if I drank too much alcohol I would be sick...not from being too drunk but my medication just couldn't cope with it sometimes.
It's good for taking the pain and depression away but not very good if you need to grieve for someone as i lost my grandad a few months ago and I couldn't cry the way i needed to.
Also taking citalopram stopped my periods too, but since being off them all that has changed.
I really hope the medication works for you and you don't get the side effects I did. Just wanted to make you aware as no one told me what could be.
I did Google the side effect but nothing was to serious but I suppose not every one is listed. Sorry to hear about your grandad hope things are ok with you now
Thankyou James that means alot I'm coping ok now. Was good to have a good cry and be able to finally say goodbye. He died from cancer which spread to every organ in his body. I'm just grateful I got to spend that last year with him before he passed away.
Family is important yeah glad you are ok now hope one day I can be as well
You will be James. Have you had any counselling? It really helped me to understand what causes my depression and anxiety. It was to do with my childhood. Now I know my triggers I try to distract myself with things I enjoy doing. I know it's hard to enjoy things when your feeling low but sometimes making yourself do it really helps. Once you know your triggers it will really help. I'm here if you need someone to chat to and im sure others with advice will help too as we have all been there.
I've only been off my meds nearly 4 weeks and I do feel low sometimes but going for a walk or doing some drawing ect really helps
I start my Conselling Tuesday well my asssement anyway I like going gym but just recently haven't had the energy
Aww you will get your energy back once the medication kicks in. Things will get better I promise. Takes a few weeks but you will get there. Hugs
You big softie lol but thank you for encouraging words means I have light end of tunnel and with such kind people like yourself I will beat this😀
