okay little bit of background I've been on 40mg of Celexa for the last 14 months and it has worked okay now out of the blue I had a huge panic attack which I thought was Vertigo but I'm sorry to think it was anxiety and when I went to the doctor he started me on medicine for vertigo which didn't really help so things it was still there so he suggested stopping Celexa and starting on Effexor 37.5 and metoprolol 25 mg daily right now I'm on day 4 of 20 milligrams of Celexa I'm supposed to wean myself down in five days on 20 and then 5-days on 10 and then start the Effexor my anxiety seems to be worse than it was to begin with mostly in the mornings as soon as I wake up I feel sick and nauseous and head spin and they want to take the metoprolol I'd kind of evens it out so I'm not sure I kind of want to just weaned off the Celexa and not start the Effexor at all but my anxiety in the mornings horrible and I'm not quite back to normal where I still don't want really want to like I'm an outgoing person I like to shop and hang out and I'm just going to stay home take naps and blah blah blah so I don't know if the I don't want to Celexa 40 mg along with a metoprolol what open would have worked okay since I started weaning and the same day I start taking them adult for law or if I should just continue weaning myself off Celexa. But I'm not sure when my anxiety go away or is it just going to get worse not sure any advice would help thank you
Stephanie,
First and foremost, I want to say please be careful with weaning off your Celexa. I was stable on Ciralopram for almost 10 years, and my doctor had my wean off of it over the course of a couple months, but I still crashed hard and had a major relapse. This, of course, also depends on how long someone's been on the medication, but I would still be very careful if I were you, and if you did choose to start weaning off, do it much slower than what your doctor has laid out for you. This is just my opinion, of course, from information I've gathered according to others and my personal experience.
Also, I would not right away assume that Celexa is no longer working for you just because you had a panic attack suddenly, this is pretty common even if one is on proper medication. If it were me, I would stick with Celexa a little longer and see how you feel, while also incorporating mindfulness techniques for addressing panic attacks and anxiety (I recommend a book called DARE: The New Way to End Anxiety and Stop Panic Attacks).
It is very possible that starting those other meds are making you feel crappy due to side effects and what not.
Overall, I would just say to be cautious about weaning off of Celexa so soon and you very may well just be experiencing a little blip in your recovery that you need to work through.
Hope this helps, hang in there.
