After discontinuing proton pump inhibitors

Hello everyone

Has anyone experienced waves of nausea after coming off of a proton pump?

I was prescribed 40mg of pantoprazole in September I was on this ppl for a month. My family dr was away when I went in for a refill. The doctor I saw said that I should not be on them as they are bad for you. So she stopped me cold turkey and omg was I sick!! I ended up being put back on pantoprazole and then tapered of by 25% each week. Once I finished my last dose I was sick for a few days not nearly as rough as last time. My doctor said that was the rebound. I finished my last dose November 14th. However now throughout the day I will experience these waves of nausea that come and go. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have had an endoscopy done and there is no acid damage so maybe I did not need the ppi in the first place.

Nausea can be treated. have you tried Maylox or that pink stuff 🙄a cup of warm milk to coat tummy. It works for me. Anti acids or Zantac. My best friend is alkaselzer, 1 tablet resolved in water ,,sometimes just a soda a cracker get relief right away!

Have been on PPI for over 10 years and am trying to get off.  Whenever I miss a dose, my stomach burns like crazy.  Don't know what I'm going to do.  Pretty sure it's what caused my osteoporosis, as that is one of the side effects.
