Hey guys Im in serious need of advise or experience! I was in the ER last night for blood in my stool and they gave me a abdominal ct scan with contrast. Im ALREADY deathly afraid of that because Ive read horror stories about getting a air embolism with that..... And I google everything! Well..... Just so happens during the scan I get nausous and have chest pains! It hasn't stopped! Im sooo freaked out and am trying to resist going back to the ER to get checked. Its been 12 hours now!! Please help!!
Same problem happened with me but my doc said if it was air embolism then it will serious in 1 hour you already survived 12 hours
Really!! What happened? Can you please share your story?! It has been 12 hours but the pain is sooo real! I feel like Im gonna collapse any minute
If you had an air embolism, you would probably not have survived this long. I am a RN on leave right now and really never heard about that happening with contrast. News to me. I would be concerned about the blood in your stool. What were the results of the scan? When I have blood in my stool it is due to my my hemorrhoids. If you are bleeding internally your stool is usually black. Did anyone suggest an endoscopy or colonoscopy. These are usually done when blood in the stool is a complaint. You did not state your age. Just my opinion not medical advice. Consider following up with a Gastroenteroligist.
Thank you for your reply! They referred me and Im 33 yrs. The scan was normal but as stupid as it sounds... They said they can't see things like... Bleeding ulser or anything. And yea surprisingly... Look it up... Its more common than you think.
