Hello all, I wanted to ask for some advice. I am considering purchasing an air purifier but I have not found any information that shows they really work for allergies and asthma. I would love to hear from you on your own experiences, and any recommendations you can give to a newbie. I have been reading up on this topic and honestly I am extremely confused. Please help and maybe we can all learn together.
Jeff
sorry for the late reply I just saw it , I have recently bought a air purifier for my house cause I have asthma and the air quality was really bad due to wild fires. I really enjoy it and I feel it helps
I have just seen your post today. I have had hay fever for forty years. I have recently been diagnosed with Asthma/COPD. About twelve years ago I purchased an air purifier from Argos. It works great to relieve hay fever. On the worst days, with red runny noze etc., when I come home I turn on the fan and after a couple of hours I realize I have stopped sneezing and feel better.
The electric fan draws air through a HEPA filter it takes some time to get rid of the fine invisible dust particles. After some time the filter gets clogged and needs replacing. (Read your instructions).
When my HEPA filter needed replacing I found out that the maker of the unit had gone into liquidation (no wonder it was at a sale price). I could not get a replacement filter. So I bought a large paper/card filter for a truck. Then I cut it down to fit my unit, it seems to work ok.
It is well worth a try, Ensure you have an effective vaccum cleaner, avoid having pets and smokers in the house, if possible
