Alcahol withdrawal

Hi. I went on a six day binge and then stopped.drunk 6 litres vodka in 7 days. The first day after stoping I could not get out of bed due to severe panic and anxiety . Every time I lifted my head it was like was going to pass out lots of nice deep slow breathing stopped the feeling. Now on day 4 and feel a lot better. No shakes nausia or sweats just a bit tired. Last night slept so well. Do you think I am over worst or could I still be in danger of worse. Please help if you can.

I’m not a medic, but going from my own experience and posts on this forum, I would say you’re over the worst on day 4 without any alcohol.

However, should you experience any withdrawal symptoms, seeing and hearing things, shakes etc. then seek medical attention

I don’t know your drinking history obviously. Have you done this a lot before, do you normally drink daily? Have you ever suffered from withdrawals. Was this a relapse? Reason for asking being the more often you have these massive binges, it takes longer to recover and withdrawals become worse after each binge. Google alcohol kindling.

Vicks has given you good advice, you should be over it on day 4, the first two days are usually the worst. Please take note of the bit where she says about, seeing/hearing things or shakes, as some people (tiny minority) can develop more serious symptoms around day 6/7

Hi thank you for your reply. I have had issues in the past. This is my third binge in a year I have had hilousinations and ended up in hospital but that was when I stopped after a big three week binge. I'm feeling ok just tired and I have my son this weekend and don't really want to cancel but may have to if there is a chance after 6 days I could suddenly fit. The last time I got delerium it happened on second day.

Three week binge seems long to me...perhaps consider medication to gradually reduce your consumption?

There’s a small percentage of people who have previously detoxed, then not drunk for some time and then had a relapsing binge and detox again . If you google alcohol kindling and also PAWS, you’ll see there’s a small chance that DTs and seizures could occur up to 10/12 days after your last alcoholic drink.

Only you can decide if you have your son or not. How old is your son? do you live alone? Chances are you will be ok, but you need to read the info yourself and then make a decision.

good luck and please say how you got on
