All opinions please

A little backstory. I had what I thought was a lesion in May. One single large non draining ulcer that was painful. Had it swabbed on Day 5 and they lost the culture. Had it swabbed again on day 12 ( lesion was the same ). This culture was negative and did not grow anything. I was positive for HSV blood antibodies at that time. I was given Valtrex initially that did nothing. The MD decided I had a yeast infection and gave Diflucan and everything healed. Fast forward to a week ago. I had a UTI. 3rd in a month. Was given Bactrim and Diflucan. On last day of Bactrim I had vaginal itching and discharge so I decided to investigate. I have felt raw and itchy the entire time. Noticed what looked like an abrasion. Today is day 9 and this is what it looks like. There have been no blisters, no pus and no pain. Is this herpes or yeast? I am devastated.

did they swab for herpes?

They did with the first lesion and it was negative in May. I haven't had a swab this time because it's been several days so I am not sure it is accurate. I am really wondering if the last swab was a false negative.

swabs is pretty accurate tho.. your blood test for herpes was that type 1 or 2?

Type 1. Do I also need to recheck for HSV 2 several months after first outbreak? I'm just distraught that this is an outbreak and maybe I was really positive the first time. The only thing is there is no pain. I noticed the itching and raw feeling after an antibiotic but I also had pretty rough sex 3 days before and was just regularly sore after that.

These new lesions are also in a totally different place than the sore was in May.

looks like herpes x

I just wonder if it is and it is close to time since my first lesion in May does this mean it's actually HSV 2? Has anyone had more than one outbreak of HSV 1 genitally? I am attaching a pic of my lesion from May which I had a negative swab on. image

it could be either tbh best way is to get tested, this can be via antibody blood test or a swab of the lesion.

i personally have had up to 8 negative swab tests as the lesions werent herpes but have just recently been disagonsed with it

To answer your question, yes - you can have genital HSV-1. So if they showed that you have HSV antibodies, then yes, you have herpes - genital HSV-1 from the looks of it.

Do I need to retest at a later time for HSV 2? I was only positive for HSV 1 antibodies in May which was when I had the original lesion.

hm... if you are negative for hsv2 and positive for hsv1 and have had coldsores before i wouldnt worry much, BUT i would still go to your doctor for a swab

Im sorry to hear that! Swabs are quite accurate tho, so as you said the 8 times before that must have been something else.

It is hard to know without swabs. If you would like to know then get a retest for hsv2. If you did not get any coldsores before it might be hsv1, but again get tested. only way to know.

must have been but i have now ordered a blood test to be done to be 100% sure and a swab of the lesions which she said it likely to come back negative as theh have healled
