Anal fissure and working out?

am I delaying healing by still going to the gym with an anal fissure???

I was a teen bodybuilder until I got my Fisher last year. I kept trying to go to the gym however the pain used to get in the way and then I would end up thinking about the pain rather than lifting weights. I would say they do what is right for you and what feels right for you. they do what is right for you and what feels right for you.

yes, I was told by my regular gastro doctor, and my gastro surgeon, no working out. I haven’t been in 19 months because of this issue.

hi,

thanks for your reply.

yea when I’m at the gym it’s always on my find and I’m.worried I’m not allowing it to heal but at the same time I dont want to give up the gym. lol

so what did you do?

and did it help?? why so long? have you been doing heavy lifting etc prior

surgery was the only option I had, the reason for so long was because my fissure became chronic. If you don’t heal in 6 weeks you need surgery. I spent almost two years trying all these different creams the doctors would prescribe and nothing worked. I did somewhat heavy lifting prior, but was advised to not even do any lifting because the straining could cause it to re tear, or cause the incision site to come open. Basically its not looking like ill ever be back to the gym, you have this pain for 19 months like me you want to do everything to prevent recurrence.

oh got ya.

how long has it been since surgery? is it healed? u hear all these horrible stories…

did you stop working out prior to surgery and nothing helped??

I read some things about not eating for about a week or having a liquid diet to allow the fissure to heal. that’s next level though…

I can not stop working out and I’m a gay Male so it terrifies me this will affect relationships with sex an all

I’m 9 weeks out of surgery, Im not 100% yet, but getting there. I tried diet, creams everything imaginable and nothing else worked, i would get better for maybe a week and the cycle would start over.

what are the docs saying…is this a long recovery normal?
