I have suffered from aniexty for many years. Sometimes it's bad and others times in my life it isn't. I had a child 4 months ago and since then my aniexty has taken on a whole new face! I always had wierd chest pains and panic attacks with rapid heart rates and all the other fun stuff that comes with them. But since I had my son I have whole new symptoms. I feel like I am constantly short of breath. Sometimes I'm fine but a large portiOn of my days I feel like I just can't catch it. This then can sometimes make me dizzy and light headed. I also get heart palpitations. These also come and go and only last a few second each time. Some days I have none and others it's 5 to 10 different times. This also makes me feel dizzy and like I may pass out immediately after my heart skips its beats. I also get some chest pains also. I have been to a doctor and gotten an ekg which was normal and now I'm going in two weeks to get a 24 hour monitor put on. I'm sure it will come back as aniexty but I wonder if maybe it isn't? Which again is probably my aniexty. I also see a therapist who has encouraged me to make sure it's just aniexty with my doctor (which got me even more nervous) What scares me the most is that these symptoms come out of no where. When I'm rocking my son in a very relaxed atmosphere or doing literally anything and boom it hits. I have managed to not let myself get an all out panic attack when it happens now but I can't live like this anymore constantly wondering if I'm going to die. I goggle my symptoms which makes me think the worst. Like is the shortness of breath a blood clot from my c section? I just didn't know if others have this issue also. It always helps to hear someone else tell you that you arnt alone! I can't be happy as a clam playing with my family and boom one or the other symptom comes at me! It's tough and I am just looking for someone who gets it and who may have the same issue. Is this just aniexty?
These are my most prevalent symptoms. (Shortness of breath and heart palps)I also have tingly arms and hands, and many other aniexty symptoms that I am convinced mean I have a bad heart.
Hi
I am struggling with very similar symptoms at the moment myself. It's like I've got a band around the top of my chest and it feels tight when I breathe in. I find this symptom the scariest thing and it seems to trigger horrible nerves and nausea. I'm sure that your therapist only told you to get it checked just because if you have the checks you will know that it isn't actually anything physical and you can then focus on dealing with it as an anxiety symptom. The physical sympyoms of anxiety are just awful - I think having a baby triggered mine a couple of years ago because although I have struggled with anxiety in the past, I don't ever remember this awful sense of worry about dieing before. I do hope that you are feeling better soon!!
Yes it does sound like anxiety, sadly it does all these things. It's always best to get physical things checked with a Dr, the hard part is believing them when they say it's anxiety! It's good your in therapy, it takes.time.but it does work
Thank you so much for your response! I think it is the stress of a new baby and the over tiredness and stuff. I also lost my father at 4 years old so I'm sure subconsciously it makes me nervous to ever die on my little one. I don't have any depression tho so it confuses me why it's so bad. And I think you are probably right my therapist wants me to rule it out cause she knows nothing else will convince me. I know these things but I can't convince myself of them at times. It helps to have someone who understands to be able To remind me of this so thank you so much! It's my first time in any forum or discussion like this. Reading has always helped me so I thought I'd join. I hope you feel better also real soon.. it's a life long sturuggle and only those of us that know truly get it.: thanks ahain
Yes your symptoms are the same as mine. I get shortness of breathe everyday!! I have chest pains on a daily and even pressure. I also get heart palpitations with almost seems like they knock the wind out of you!! I get arm pains, muscle spasms, and the feeling of a lump being in my throat. Anxiety can cause my different symptoms and will have you diagnosing yourself with all kind of things.
I think when you have children you become so much more aware of your own mortality because it's so much more important for you to be around. I haven't posted on here before until yesterday - reading replies does help me too though. It's very hard to imagine that I will ever get to a place where I can just ignore my physical symptoms but I'm hoping to get to the point where I can manage my thoughts so that it doesn't snowball onto panic attacks like it has been doing. I'm glad that my response has made you feel a little better - you are so right when you say that it's hard to understand if you haven't experienced anxiety. I'm hoping to start CBT soon so I'm hoping that the talking openly about some of the things I feel will help. Wishing you lots of luck with feeling better!
Nikki
Your GP has done all the positive things anyone with Anxiety would expect, you are also been seen for CBT and your CPN should be explaining coping techniques to you. Your pins and needles are common problems. Many people get them quite regular. I suffer when I am holding the stearing wheel of my car and I tap and flex my fingers and they seem to clear. You are suffering dizziness I get the same, although with me it is all to do with my Chronic Disability.
In your case it maybe you are rising to soon from a seat and there is a drop in blood pressure, your blood iron count could be low so some Iron tablets may help
Your Child is still young and it is only four moths since the birth so depending on that you may neet a buildup of various vitms etc. See your GP. You may also need some various other things as well as possibly some Calcium.
If you are having Palpitations, mention that although I would try Breathing Techniques to calm your mood. Having a new Child can be hard and tyering so when all is calm try Relaxation Techniques. Mindfulness may help you with various concerns you may have. Your CPN can explain these to you although Breathing Techniques may have been explaned by your pre birth courses and Midwife.
Talk to your GP regards vitms and minerals and explain your worries. Your life will be a little run down I suppose after the birth.
Have you made an appointment yet for your teeth at the Dentist.

I couldn't agree more I kno my aniexty probably won't ever go away(my therapist said mine seems to be how I'm wired and not due to a trams) but I'd like to get toba
Place where I know it's aniexty and accept it and move on. My therapist and I are actually doing CBT and she has me get a book called The Feeling Good Handbook by David Burns MD. I highly recommend it! Good luck
Yes it hard part is believing it! I'm having a 24 hour monitor next week I have to wear. Hopefully that will be enough to do the convincing. Thanks for your reply!
Sounds just like me! It's nice to know we arnt alone! It's certainly no fun and a constant struggle! Good luck to you!
Thanks for your reply Bob. I am doing CBT with my therapist it's very interesting and seems to be helping. She has also been working with me in breathing thru my stOmach and it's all helping, but for some reason the symptoms won't go away! I did get checked out with my doctor and they tested my thyroid and that was fine. I asked if it could be post partum stuff and they said yes possibly but I am taking my prenatal vitamins still so if so hopefully they help. My hormones are probably still out of wack too! I will ask about calcium tho when there next. I'm getting a 24 hour monitor put on in two weeks to see about the palpitations. I'm curious why you ask about the dentist? I actually just recently read that teeth and aniexty could be related. I was seeing a dentist up until I got pregnant but was suffering then also with aniexty when I went having my mouth open with shortness of breath so I stopped going but need to go back. I had a cavity they hadn't fixed. I have ok teeth tho. Not great but not horrible either. Still have my wisdoms also..all of them! I also suffer TMJ from grinding my teeth in my sleep. Thanks for your response tho! It's nice to be able to talk about it! I am curious about the dentist thing tho?
To a point where I accept it's just my aniexty and stops there. I'm actually doing CBT with my therapist and it's helped a bit. She had me get a book called the feeling good book by David d burns MD. I highly

After you gave birth it is advisable to have your teeth checked, you loose Calcium and Minerals, the child uses them and you become depleted and you will possibly need fillings etc. In the UK that is quite normal to have a check up. Approach your Dentist and ask about Sedation when you need treatment if you are anxious.
BOB
Thank you. I've just started one called Stop Thinking Start Living but I will give that one that you mentioned a go afterwards - I will try anything!!
I will make an appointment. I in the states and my OB/GYN actually never mention this to me. Thank you for the advice. I will definitely ask about some sort of sedative to. Thanks again Bob
Good luck

Hello, I have had a few anxiety/panic attacks in the past that lasted a couple hours but never had any lasting symptoms. Then just this past Sunday I had a one and I am still having the physical symptoms, tightness in chest, jittery nervous feeling, mind racing and a lot of searching the net which just makes it worse. I woke up this morning feeling about 80% better but as the day wears on its coming back. I've had the ekg and blood work all were fine. I also had a full blood panel done about a year ago and all checked out. My blood pressure has been 115/75 for the last year until this episode it's spiking a bit. I guess my question is, is this how it happens? All of sudden boom and it just doesn't leave? Or could the symptoms reside.
This is how it happens! Comes out of no where at times. I know for me also that my aniexty gets worse as the day goes on. At night it seems to be at its peak. Not sure why tho? Maybe the dark and knowing doctors offices are closed? Truly I'm not sure why but I can relate. Have you had something stressful happen recently? Also the simple act of worrying about your symptoms after the attack can make them continue. If you are always thinking about them even subconsciously they will always be there. Good luck with everything
