i had an ankle fusion approximately five years ago on my right ankle. I like to play golf and have a problem with pain in my lower back. It is worse after playing golf but I walk with a noticeable limp and am wondering if my problem might be related to the ankle fusion and the change in my gait. If so, any suggestions to help me? Thanks!
Dear Mike
Have you considered seeing a chiropractor?
Cheers Richard
Hi, I had a fusion 9 years ago, left ankle. It left me with my left leg slightly shorter. I too have had issues with my back. I know i I also have arthritis in most of the jonts down my spine, and adding a change in gait doesn't help. I now know that I should have seen a physio after the fusion. I see one now!. I also have found that having good orthotics in my shoes, and wearing good shoes, helps. Also therapeutic massage. I have a massage therapist near me whi is amazing at releiving my back pain. Dont go to a chiropractor unless you have had scans done first. Usually the pain is muscular. I also have a brace for may back which helps. Good luck.
Level walking. And pt told me today that we rarely repair 100% and after may need a thin lifter in short leg.
Just interested in why you say don't go to a chiropractor. Have you had a bad experience?
Cheers Richard
