Ankle Surgery - Not better

I had ankle surgery

Excision of the right calcaneonavicular coalition - is what doctor called it. It will be 3 years thanksgiving and I still have swelling and deep pain that goes on up my leg... any words of wisdom? thinking about seeing another specialists.

Hi shofe, three years (to me) is a long time to go with still having swelling and deep pain.  I'm sorry you're having to go through that and for this long too!  If it were me, I would definitely, 100% go see another specialist.  And I would keep on with the doctors/specialists, until you find one that can give you some definitive answers.  I sure wish you luck!

Thank you! Are you better after your surgery? How long did it take to feel better for you? after surgery I did 2 weeks non-weight bearing and 3 1/2 with boot. First few months I felt like new person - now I'm back to swelling popping and cracking when walk

and steps well that's a mess

Hi shofe,

I'm better.  I have thankfully had no major issues.  I was in the boot for a few weeks.  My ankle (left) has frozen.  I limp now.  I use a cane sometimes.  I crack too!  LOL  I'm trying to get use to that ankle doing that.  I haven't felt bad at all physically.  However, limping is something that I'm trying to understand is probably going to be permanent for me.  Instead of saying, "I don't walk right anymore," I now try to say, "I don't walk like I did before."

That's great I'm glad you are doing better. I think the limp is prob gonna have to be a firend of all is with ankle issues. I'm gonna try find another specialist-

Thanks so much

shofe, thank you!  And you're right about the limp.  I love the way you put that:  .........the limp is going to have to be a friend.......  Haha!  That is a postive way to look at it, for sure.  Please keep us posted, when you see another specialist.
