Hey everyone, I'm 21 and have had anxiety for years. Usually about my heart, but recently its been due to new symptoms in my arms that started a week ago. Starting a week ago i had internal vibrating but it got a bit better and i only feel it when I'm not doing anything. from my elbows up my arms feel really tense/sore and i can feel it up to my shoulders. I also started being scared of my arms feeling weak (anxiety telling me i have MS) My legs felt like they were sore/vibrating as well but now im focused on my arms and its gone. has anyone been through this? what could help my arms feel better? Anything is appreciated!
are you on any medications? im a hypochondriac which caused my anxiety disorder. i tried therapy before medications. it took about 6 months and 3 different meds to feel somewhat “normal”. personally i have accepted that this is just part of me. i happen to think and feel everything very deeply it is both a blessing and a curse. there are a few vitamins i can recommend if your not wanting to take pharamcutical meds. my PM is open if you need to talk. i know how scary and life halting this is. i dint leave my house for 2 years.
I know exactly how you are feeling. When I was in my 20s I had the same symptoms, vibrating, arms and legs were weak, tense and sore muscles in my neck, Shoulders, and back.. I also thought I had MS , but I did not. I also have had anxiety for years. All of my symptoms were due to long-term chronic anxiety and stress. It sounds like that could be the same with you.
The reason a lot of people with anxiety think they have MS is because anxiety affects primarily the nervous system and that’s where it shows its symptoms. So you’re going to get vibrating, weakness etc. it’s also interesting that some of it goes away when you are not focusing on it. You can help reduce or eliminate that feeling in the arms by focusing on reducing your anxiety. Get some counseling if you have long-term anxiety that is not resolved. It’s very helpful to talk to somebody else who can help you. Also do you things that relax your mind. There’s great meditations on YouTube for anxiety, get some exercise , Eat healthy and stay busy. You need to get your mind off of the symptoms but at the same time you need to address the anxiety and get support. Also I always recommend that people get a complete physical with their doctor at least once a year or when they get new symptoms. That will give you peace of mind. take care!
