Anxiety and body temperature

Hi all,

This is my first post so please be kind!!! I'm just wondering if anyone else gets a temperature during heightened anxiety? Mine has hit 37.8. I've just finished 3 courses of antibiotics so I don't think it is due to that so just wondering if anyone else experiences it x

My body burns up as well and sometimes it feels like it's on the inside.

I've been to the doctors about it saying I'm burning up but they say my temperature is fine.

I'm hoping it's just another anxiety symptom.

Chelle, anxiety affects every part of your body, can produce the most alarming symptoms that scare the hell out of you and have you running backwards and forward to the doctors.  Your  temperature  could very well be related to the anxiety. The trouble with anxiety is that you can get caught in the loop, and the more anxious you get the more different symptoms will appear. I've suffered anxiety throughout my life, and what I would say to anyone with ongoing anxiety, find ways of coping with the everyday life problems. CBT is very good, also  learning to relax, mindfulness is something I do every day and find it helps. I see lots of posts here, young people suffering so bad because of ongoing anxiety, ruining their quality of life. There are lots of good books on how to manage anxiety, explore and help yourself, it's the only way, medication is ok but it's short term and lots of side effects and doesn't get to the root of your anxiety.

So is the burning temperature normal, as in it's part of Anxiety?

I worry my body is going to catch on fire and worry it's Spontaneous Combustion, the temperature seems to be coming from the inside of my body and so when I see the Doctors and they say my temperature is normal I tell them I still feel warm/hot though.

Craig, I'm 99 percent sure it's part of your anxiety. If you concentrate on a symptom it will magnify, and that will keep the anxiety going and make it worse. Our mind can run away with us, i've had every symptom of anxiety from heart palpitations to stomach disorders due to anxiety and worry, and they all faded in time. Try not to concentrate on the feelings, sensations. Keep your mind busy on other things and keep away from self diagnosis on the internet, because that will cause more anxiety and scare you. Go back to your GP if you feel the need to.

Hi your temperature is slightly raised so you probably need to try another course of antibiotics.Anxiety does not give you a higher temperature.

That's all I wanted to hear, now I'm worried it's something else.

I'm on Vitamin D tablets due to deficiency so dunno if that caused it.

What were you on antibiotics for?

Craig do not worry just go to the doctor and get it checked. It is probably a slight infection or a virus nothing major. You can take a couple of paracetamol to bring it down.Trust me your temperature is not excessively high.

I've told the doctor before and they said my temperature is fine even though I felt warm/hot inside.

I'm not taking any antibiotics.

If your temperature is normal when you are at the doctor's then you are fine.Honestly you are not burning up l get the feeling of over heating constantly however l know it is anxiety and l get it constantly when l am stressed.Try to calm your mind and the symptom will decrease through time.

That's what it is, a feeling of over heating and the doctors have said my temperature is normal and I say to them "but I feel hot now" and they look at me like I'm weird or something.

I do feel slightly warm now and I have the fan on and I'm in a small bedroom (they call it the box room).

I go really hot too Hun and my cheeks go bright red x

My doctor confirmed today that it is a symptom of anxiety x

Yes now you know that work on relaxing your mind so that through time the symptoms will calm down.

Thank you!

My temperature rockets when I'm anxious, I literally feel like I've caught on fire. My face goes red and I also get very fidgety, I've spent countless hours stood by my bathroom window getting the breeze on my face because I've got anxious about something.

I also feel very sick and sweat a little bit too.

I struggle with anxiety, and am in fact stood at this bathroom window just now after waking up in a mass panic.

Hope you feel better soon - you are not alone.

Thank you babe!!! It's a horrible and scary life being an anxiety sufferer :-( hope you feel better soon babe xxx
