I had my first real anxiety attack when I was 24 and it just so happened it involved sleep then too. Once again I'm having nightime sleep anxiety and I can't find relief at all. I've tried all the relaxation methods, music, meditation etc. Nothing works. It always starts with me jolting awake right before I really fall asleep or just suddenly waking up in the middle of a dream. Then each night after I become more and more anxious about going to bed until it just snowballs out of control and I actually almost fear going to bed because I know it's just going to be an unpleasant experience. Anyone else have this type of anxiety and what did you do to find relief? A good night's sleep is so taken for granted and you really realize how important it is when you are not getting any sleep. It's so frustrating because I had really re trained my mind quite well over the last 9 years and had really learned how to keep my anxiety at bay. Anyways if anyone has any suggestions it'd be much appreciated. And if you think your the only person awake in the middle of the night with anxiety your not alone because chances are I'm awake as well.
I use different combos of the supplements Inositol 500mg, Niacinamide 100 to 250mg, low dose [100 to 250mcg] Melatonin, Valerian, and Chamomile. Another supplement that works well for some is GABA but I thought it made me a bit too groggy during the day, although it certainly works well for anxiety.
