HI, I am looking for some reassurance if anybody has experienced these symptoms and got over it. I have had anxiety and panic for coming up to a year now with some very dark days, however with the help of my doctors i have overcome so much and live a semi normal life again, i just have one fear that developed about 8 months ago and has been a on and off battle, I have become terrified of choking to the point i forget how to swallow and spit food/liquid out. I have not had any choking incidents to cause this fear its just developed and i dont have any medical conditions causing it either. I am so skinny (having lost a lot of weight) and i am so scared i will never eat again, i manage soups, yoghuts and smoothies but i am getting so board of them i can go through a week of not eating, losing more weight than having to try and gain back what i can. I feel like its a slow death sentence. I try each day to eat something solid and before Christmas i was on a roll then in the last 3 weeks i have gone back down hill again, i tried to eat toast this morning and thought it got stuck had a major panic and have since struggled to eat much else today. I am so proud of what i have achieved getting to this point where i can walk out the house and live a semi normal life but i am constantly thinking about when i have to eat, what i have to eat and how much. I got up to 1700kcal aday dropped to 700kcal a day and now back up to about 1300kcal a day. Has anyone had this same fear but eventually got over it and started eating again without fear?
I have fear of eating but the complete opposite end of the spectrum, i get afraid about eating too much and making my self feel sick, vomit and have heart palpitations from a heavy meal, i have a big appetite but honestly hate eating a lot but not eating a lot doesn’t satisfy me at all. I literally have to eat until i feel sick and its awful. It seems easy to say stop eating as much, But i just cant concentrate or anything until im stuffed. ANYWAYS .. have you tried maybe making your own soup with ingredients high in fat and fibre? or maybe tried using a blender on some fatty foods? I also heard that banana and chocolate in a smoothie is really good so maybe that will be a good option for you? high potassium and fat, or maybe try sprinkling your smoothies with small nuts or cereal to try and get yourself used to swallowing properly? hope this helps
