Anxiety over blood test results.

New here. I have been anxious about my health since emergency surgery for bowel cancer 6 years ago. (All clear now.) That was followed by a large mesh hernia repair, (ok) gall bladder removal, shingles and presently having 6 monthly psa blood tests for prostate cancer following radiotherapy a year ago. Even though the next test is not until March, I am already stressing out about the result, so much so that I'm not sleeping well. The two previous tests have been ok, but the second not as much a drop as I had hoped. (The psa should gradually drop over two years to under 1, mine was 2.9 last September.) I don't want to become more and more stressed over the next 8 weeks! I keep telling myself to stop being silly about it, but that doesn't work. I've had councelling and have mild tranquillisers but can't drive if I take them. Any ideas to stop this nonsense? Thanks.

I know how hard it is to wait for test results. I find that the best thing for me to do is stay as busy as possible. The longer I sit around and think the more my stress and anxiety increase. It doesn’t matter what you do just stay busy and if you’re not busy or if it’s evening time and you are at home, get on YouTube and search for some great meditations for anxiety, fear, sleep, etc.
there are hundreds of them on there! I listen to them every night before I sleep and I don’t usually get through them because I fall asleep. There are some great ones such as one called it’s OK by Lauren. Another one that’s really good is called detachment from overthinking. Plus many more.
i also found that doing things for other people would keep the focus off of myself. Just take one day at a time and don’t think about the future. Increase your socialization with other people who make you laugh or just people to hang out with family friends etc. that way you won’t be lost in your thoughts and time will seem to go faster. I wish you the best!
