has anyone had sexual side effects who can give me opinion i am a young female And have been on and off medication for years I have been on 50 Mg for eight months now and for the first time I have sexual side-effects such as delayed orgasm, decreasd sensitivity and lower desire for sex and because of this sex is starting to be uncomfrtble because i cant "lubricate" because the libido is low can someone please help does a lower dose like 25 really improve this side effect ?
your doctor would have the best answer for you.
Firstly, I am sorry you are experiencing this. I can relate (although I am male if that wasn’t obvious from my handle!), as can many many others.
Asking the doc would help, but depending on how hard your doctor pushes these drugs, they may simply decline to admit that they do indeed cause the symptoms you are experiencing. This would not help your state of mind, so be warned and don’t pay too much attention in my opinion.
There are many discussions online about what causes these problems. The common consensus from what I have read is that serotonin receptors are somehow affected and resolving this usually helps. Things can clear up after you stop taking whatever you are taking, but this depends on the individual.
As to whether dropping to 25mg (of what, exactly - you don’t say!) then it MAY indeed help; you would need to try. But can you cope on the lower dose? Your ability to function safely is more important than having sex, put bluntly, but obviously you still want to enjoy yourself which is understandable. My advise would be to get “stable” with whatever you are being “treated” for, then consider introducing a natural remedy alongside (there are plenty). Then you could reduce your medication dosage slowly.
Can I ask what you take, and what you take it for?
thank you so much daz for tour detailed response i really do appreciate it!
thats wxacrly what the drs do they deny these side effects, they dont help at all its such a shame .
i am on 50mg of zoloft (setraline) , its a shame becayse it works so well but has destroyed my sex life which just makes me snxious ! but im bad without them so i feel trapped and no one is helping me
i have tried natursl stuff like magnesium wnd herbs but they never worked and i could no longer function as a member of society which is why i went back on the meds
I am sorry you feel trapped, and like nobody is helping you. Magnesium is good for anxiety but you do need to take quite a bit of it. There are other herbs too that really do work, but you need to know which ones and how much to take. I have PMd you some more information.
