Hi Roy , not a runner myself but if you look on the NHS choices website and search Normans story I'm sure it will inspire you . I hope to do lots of hill walking soon ,I had a double replacement 10 weeks ago . All the best , Ruth

Hi Roy i am 10 months preop and tried jogging but my left knee is also shot. I walk ride my bike whenever i can.
If you feel soreness stop your exercises for two days then continue on.
Dont over do it.
hi desi
thanks for your reply again....i'm not sure if sometimes i'm over compensating for my right knee is bad and painfull if i try to jog so maybe i put more strain on my hip but i do as you say rest till it feels better....have you seen the website of hip runner?...i'm involved with our local parkrun here in leeds and i really want to take part sometime as i read lots of guys doing parkruns with new hips and within a few weeks of having it done.....soon i should hear from the consultant so i will see what he has to say about the hip....till then i will take it easy...
regards roy
Whenever you walk take a cane with you to ease off strain from your leg and knee.
take it easy and see what doc has to say about it. I'm 10 months post op waiting for july to see the surgeon to take off the precaution I'm still on.
Best of health Roy, let us know what happened ok.
Hi again Roy!
I'm 71 years young so still young enuf to restart that running ...but gently as beach bum says. And for Moor walking I use Leki nordic poles...which I find really helpful.
Cheers

Hi all
thought i would just give an update on my running.
yesterday feeling good no pain so thought i would do some jogging fast (if you can call it fast lol ) and slow ....the slow was walking....about 100 yard from the finish of my exercise hamstring on my operated leg went.....stopped staight away got home and iced it.....i thought i had taken all precautions wearing compression shorts warming up but there you go set back lol....seeing physio tomorrow see what he thinks....was just a bit worried as when we have the hip done all them muscles are pulled about....but today not feeling too bad but i know its there and got a tight sopport on it and still icing every 2 hours....well at least the weather forcast is ok for the next few days so i can rest up in the garden in the sun.....next episode commimg soon....roy
