Anyone familar with Topical Tacrolimus?

Has anyone tried this cream?

No Renee I haven't used it as it can lower your your blood count and not tecommended if you have linflammed skin disorders or low immune system.

All of the above make us LS sufferers think more than a few times to trying anything new without complete dossier and report on findings.

Warm regards Sedg 🌻

I wouldn't use it as I've just read the following about it.

"WARNING: Patients have benefited from tacrolimus when it is used correctly. Long-term safety for this drug is not known at this time. There have been rare reports of cancers (e.g., skin cancer, lymphoma) in patients using tacrolimus. It is not known whether tacrolimus caused these cancers when used on the skin. Further studies to determine the long-term safety of this product are ongoing. In the unlikely event that unusual lumps, swollen glands, or growths (especially on the skin) occur, contact your doctor immediately."

ughhh that stinks

Hi Renee,

i use protropic which is from the same family as tacrolimus (protropic I believe is stronger). Yes you will read of possible long term risks, but, the same if you use clobasterol/dermavate you will see longer term / cancer risks. It's a case of weighing up the options and deciding what works for you and not overusing it ( whether Clob or Protropic).  Personally I can't use clob and I am happy with protropic and I've been using it for nearly 2 years. I personally decided that as long as I am on top of my treatment and not overusing ( I use a small pea sized amount 1-2x a week) then my dermatologist and I have agreed we are happy with my treatment and all looks well.

i guess it's up to you and your doctor to decide what works best for you.

😀

Thanks for the info, so it controls symptoms well for you?

Yes it does, I use protropic 1-2x a week, I have borax sitz baths every 2-3 days, I use coconut oil and emuaid for moisturisers,

I am very interested in Protopic, but have not tried it as my cost is $800.

I have been using Clob for 8 months. I change the dosage based on symptoms.  I have been using it twice per day for a month, plus taking Claritin and Flonase

This is allowing me to maintain, but any deviation from my protocol causes a flare up, so I am ready to try Protopic if it works. Are you able to have sex?

Hi,

yes, my LS was not too bad. Itching/pain was initial symptoms. Some labia fusing. With what u do now, my dermatologist says looking at me she wouldn't know I had LS.

That sounds very expensive. A tube where I buy it is about $70 and lasts 6-12 months for me/

Where do you live?  I have been considering going to Mexico.  I live in Nevada.  I would certainly try Protopic if I could get it fir a reasonable price, even with the risks

Ah, I'm in the Middle East and that's where it's about $70. I reacted badly to clob due to HPV so couldn't use the steroids. If I ever leave here I'll be bulk buying! Good luck.

Have you tried borax too?
